You really need to cut it off @Broccers trying to pull it off put way more force through an open full bottle than I was comfortable with.

Exactly. And only fules don’t squeeze all the air out of their bottles before popping them into the recycling.

But walk beside a busy road and you'll find hundreds of plastic bottles without caps so it's a fair move. Like getting rid of pull tabs on drinks cans it's a tiny action which costs nothing but has a benefit.
