A 10 (15) year old CV joint's leaked its grease out which is what it was. Fixed @ £30.00. Will need a new (used) driveshaft if happens again.

On MINI #2, the little bit of trim around the door lock button lock was missing on the driver's side:

Seeing as the driver's side is the one I use most when driving, I thought "OK, I'll swap the one over from the passenger side" and promptly broke that one too I'll see if I can find some stick-on tat that'll do the job. I might even just glue an o-ring on there.

@Sundayjumper theres a dcent mini breakers in sheffield 'l a mini' for bits.

My audio project in the mini has got as far as bluetooth in incorporating steering controls and tweeter A pillars which I thought were cheap at 35 quid delivered off ebay.

Yep, I've used LA MINI before for bits for the wife's car. kernowparts on ebay have been good too. If you spot some more tweeter a-pillars for £35 let me know, I've been looking and best I've seen so far is £40 each side.

I'm also on the lookout for a deal on a 3-spoke steering wheel so I can retro-fit cruise control. It seems you need to replace the clock spring too, which in turn is part of the indicator stalk assembly, and you need the exact right part number to make it all work (and code it in, which isn't too hard).

My chainsaw died today, just shat it's biscuits mid way through a cut, died and let out a puff of smoke as its soul departed to the rainforest in the sky.

The 555. The incredibly annoying thing is I bought 4 chains for it last week.
It’s uneconomical to repair it with genuine parts. A cheap Chinese top end kit is only £50 but they’re not nikasil coated and generally poorly made. And then I still won’t know why the saw ran so lean in the first place to burn up like that. Could be a minute air leak or the electronic carburettor just going haywire. But I would need to pay a dealer to do a diagnostic scan on it

I wrapped the previously-silver trims with some leftover fake carbon to dull the interior down a bit and I’ve bought a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel so that I can control the stereo and add cruise control.

Still got a sticking caliper at the front (same caliper as last time) so I'm guessing it's hooped.

Recon caliper next month I think.

At least I'll be able to afford it and then only 'problem' will be the elbow grease required to do it.

Had to access my ladders this evening. Which involves pushing the lotus forward and out for access. No biggy. Usually leave the garage door open until I put them back. If I know I will be a while I push the lotus back a bit so I can close the door again. Not tonight….

Decided to close the main door and exit through the side door. Do ladder shizzle. Return through side door.

Oops.

I make that around 3mm clearance on the left hand side of the last image with the 50p size reference. That was rather lucky….
