Did an evening event at Donny on Monday night, with MattH (of old forum fame).

Finally made use of the track wheels/tyres I bought a couple years ago, fitted the Nankang AR1s. They offer decent grip at track speeds, stayed consistent while still allowing a little slip n slide when required. Car didn't miss a beat, temps never budged, brakes coped OK (minor fade at the end of a session chasing a turbo'd EP3 ). Great evening, just wish I lived a little closer or Oulton start doing evening events..

The speedo on the Jag is fucked. It's reading a minimum of 45mph.

Did you check whether the wheels were spinning?

I'm pretty certain they weren't as the car was stuck in park.

Oh, and I've managed to flatten the battery like a prat.

The two may be related. Get the battery fully recharged and see if the problem sorts itself.

Disconnecting the battery and charging it up seems to have solved that but the DSC, abs, handbrake and cruise all packed up. They're all related to a wheel sensor that's corroded.

And they're all playing nicely again. I've swapped a tyre for the spare as it was wearing badly on the outside edge. The spare was a P6000 made in 2008 and feels like Bakelite. The car will get a couple of fronts when I get back from holiday.

I'm sure they are a ceramic based tyre, there's no other explanation

So I got a quote for new paint and interior for the 928 from a local specialist. Turns out all the specialists in the area use the same interior guy which is one I've already had a quote for. So re-trim of seats and new carpets is going to come in at £3K. New paint (windows out re-spray, new seals and trim where necessary and dealing with a couple of bits of minor aluminium corrosion) £12K

Car's booked in at Strasse next month for an MOT and minor service, so I'll get them to do a quote for paint too and then go from there.

I had a figure in my head of around £10K all in, looks like I might need to revisit that.

I'd considered using Dave, but he's an awful long way away from me so logistically it'll be tricky, otherwise I'd be straight down there.

No concerns from the MOT about the slight pull to the left that it has. I shall take it to Kwik Fit for an alignment check - unless there's somewhere that people can recommend to sort out those sorts of things?

Same. Got gearbox oil changed, roof elastic fixed and mudflap realigned 120.00 inc mot. Who said Porsches were expensive?

Tighter circuits probably better suited.

I know, right.

Overall I still like it although even being a baggy boxster the stigma remains. Pub chat is you drive a Porsche so must be doing alright, the reality was my last golf was around 4x the price and no-one cared.

Down hill with a tail wind

Had a call from focussed events today on a bike tip. Can do their demo days working for 75 quid payment and ride bikes all day. Might do it if local enough. I hear there's a beer shortage so will fill the weekend
