My work are getting worried, a couple of plants have lost entire shifts due to infection / isolation.

My mrs has been told not to go to work until at least 2nd December, she’s only done a handful of reduced hours shifts since she was ill the first time round.

Roads quieter, but lots and lots of people out and about wandering around the countryside, although it’s been a lovely day for the first time in ages which must help.

Loads of pubs seem properly geared up for takeaways this time, no idea why it took so many so long last time, you’d have thought they’d all be keen to give it a go to get at least some sort of income.

I have booked a click and collect from Wagamama’s for 7, it’s 20 miles away but I would say it’s essential otherwise I’ll starve.

London was business as usual yesterday, all the coffee shops and bakeries open this time round which was nice but it was dead in terms of foot traffic - I imagine it’s better off for them to just close and make use of the furlough instead.

Or selling rich tea biscuits by the counter to call themselves a mini-market

At least the expenditure for safeguarding customers etc is already in place and paid for.

How many other diseases do we want which we build up immunity to? Flu strain varies every year, catching it one year doesn’t make you less likely to the next, same with common coughts and colds.

I know you've had personal experience with covid so it's maybe a little raw, but this is simply not correct. You absolutely can build up immunity to flu and colds. It may not be consistent due to mutations and strains, but it is still a real thing.

Might have to start calling you a tin foil hat fake immunity wierdo.

Yeah, I didn't see anything that I saw as high infection risk from the businesses that were open. They're pretty well set up now.

No vaccine is 100% effective, but anything you can do to help reduce spread can have a big effect on r rate and number of people who get seriously ill.

90% effective means 90% of people can’t incubate and manufacture and spread the virus, making it far less likely for the 10% it’s not effective on to come into contact with the virus in the first place.

Minor correction Harry. They know that it's 90% effective at keeping people safe from developing the disease, what we don't know yet is if it stops transmission.

I don't understand this point personally. Surely those vaccinated were subsequently tested for whether they were producing the virus and not just that they became asymptomatic and therefore become effectively carriers?

I'm wondering whether is more bullshit of the kind where supposedly having had the virus and lived didn't mean you were immune (which is a matter of biological fact).
