BREAKING NEWS!
Galaxy blew the O/S brake bulb again. That's something like 3-1 O/S v N/S.
I replaced it.

Boxster back in the garage as since getting the nearside rear wheel bearing replaced it has squeaked - gave it a week or so after thinking it was other cars making the noise not mine

Re: Your fleet running reports
When are you bringing it to Scotland? You need to have a go in mine! The Nitron's are a well worthy upgrade.duncs500 wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:55 pmAlmost everything at some point I guess. I'd like to get the Elise done at some point after I've got everything I want mechanically done, but at this rate it's just not going to be worth it.
My logic is to future proof everything else so that if I decide to go for more POWAH later it will be ready. Breaks and suspension are probably first, then I'll start thinking about the engine.
The only thing in my mind is that I don't want to change it visually, I want it to be able to gobble up a good track session, I want it to remain an enjoyably car to drive on the road and able to do road trips. Basically I want the moon on a stick, but I think it's broadly do-able if you're not chasing laptimes.
Edit - This is part of the reason I bought a leggy example, I have long held a desire to for want of a better word 'personalise' my cars, but have been in the habit of buying cars that I was relying on the resale with and couldn't afford to or would feel somehow guilty about moving away from standard. This car was never going to be a pristine example and so I'm just going to have fun with it.
Brakes don't need to be spendy. I run the standard pagid discs with upgraded CL RC5+ pads and Motul RBF660.
Have you had the geo done?
First on your list should be a pro alloy rad if thats not already been done.
Do you still have the red clutch hose?
Photos just cos.

Re: Your fleet running reports
First jobs on the Jaaaag (which has picked up the nickname of Buck because I'm apparently a girl) were a wash, which revealed a few things. Firstly it's a big car and I need to stand on tippy toes to avoid it having a dirt mohican. The wheels are in a bit of a state. Damage has been repaired with the appropriate filler but not sanded or painted.
I knew it had a little dent on the nearside wheel arch but the dirt was hiding some more scrapes on the corner of the bumper.
It really is filthy. I've given it a quick vacuum but there is dirt ingrained in the stiching so I'll give it a scrub with a brush and treat the leather this weekend. It's got an electric sunblind in the rear which seems to be fucked which I will need to investigate.
I've also nearly smacked myself in the face with the sun visor when I went to rotate it round to the side window as it was hardly attached. A hell of a lot of turns of the screw and it's now nicely seated.
Oh and I popped over to my parents to show it off and misjudged how long the bonnet is and the 18 inches of space I left at the front of the car turned out to be less than 2 inches.

I'd love to! But probably won't be up there for a while sadly. Didn't know you had Nitrons, which ones? I was thinking Nitrons would be too firm / track focused, but from what I'm reading they can be set up in such a way that work well for both.scotta wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:32 am When are you bringing it to Scotland? Haven't had anything done yet, it's going to take time to save up for these things. Probably I'll replace the tyres first, then get suspension/dampers/geo done at the same time after that.
Then breaks.
Yeah, the rad is done at least. No idea on the clutch hose.

Might be the engine mounts but never investigated too far tbh.Broccers wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:21 amCan't be unseen nowSundayjumper wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 8:07 am For £25k they would have made sure the exhaust was straight![]()

Re: Your fleet running reports
I didn’t think my engine mounts were too bad until I took them out and the oil went all over the floor !
I “downgraded” to normal ones instead of oil-filled. Not too expensive and easy to do.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Check the bulb holder and the central sprung tab will probably be flat. Bend it up, ours have done that on the brake bulbs and this sorted it, it gets a bad connection and ends up flickering over bumps etc which creates a small arc and ultimately blows the bulb regularly.DeskJockey wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 8:23 am BREAKING NEWS!

Nitron Street series 2. I have road and track settings i can share with you. bit looser for road comfort and tighter for track. Back to back makes a big difference.duncs500 wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:44 amI'd love to! But probably won't be up there for a while sadly. Didn't know you had Nitrons, which ones? Sent you a Twitter DM with the clutch hose pictured.
God news on the rad as thats a decently big job as its a front clam off.
ETA - Considering some engine upgrades but need to get it on a dyno and see where it is currently before i spunk the cash
Re: Your fleet running reports
Is yours a Sport 160 or something? I can't remember.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I finally collected my trailer today

Can now go to those pay and play sites, buy a stupid impractical car and build my tiny house section by section in the shed whenever I have time and just transport it to the woods in larger sections.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Did you notice any extra harshness from it? I'm thinking of doing similar on the BMW at some point as I think mine are a little saggy/spongey (and will likely be the original hydraulic mounts).Sundayjumper wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:56 am I didn’t think my engine mounts were too bad until I took them out and the oil went all over the floor !

Re: Your fleet running reports
I didn’t notice much difference tbh, but they’re OEM-ish, so not a surprise. The main thing was that the engine sits noticeably higher now. Back where it should be.
I tried some extra-hard polyurethane ones on The Compact and they were bloody awful
OK when flat-out off road but hateful otherwise. Not recommended.

Re: Your fleet running reports
The Vito EML came on recently so out came the code reader to reveal the NOX sensor was throwing a wobbly, although it doesn’t seem to affect how the engine runs. Priced one up, £360! Plus there are two NOX sensors and Mercedes recommend they are replaced in pairs, plus they have to be coded by Mercedes to the vehicle apparently. Time to do some research.
Re: Your fleet running reports
No but its got uprated cams and the bigger throttle body. Should have around140bhp.
