I tried to get 123,456 miles on my e46 with 123.4 on the trip and 12:34 on the clock. I fucking missed the timing by about 2 seconds, and the odo went to 123,457 as the trip went to 123.4

30.6 mpg from the Boxster on the run to, around and back from Scotland. Autoglass having a crack (possibly literally) at the stone chip on Tuesday.

Drive through any canyons? How was it?

The run through Galloway forest park was mesmerising. I wish I had a GoPro to document it!

Ooh! I've only managed to get there once and there was cloud cover When it got dark it was dark, main beam seemed like sidelights. Covid in the NW prevented me going this year (so far). Anyhow, pics

Managed to find a 2012 (facelift) 3.0 diesel. FSH, the previous owner had been getting rinsed by Jag main dealer services (including paying £1500 last year for cambelt and the works!). Only advisory on MOT was a brake pipe I think. 120,000 miles is the fly in the ointment but I’m taking the risk as it looks well looked after... pick up Friday!

Great. I'm similarly looking at Merc CLS 350CDis. Alternating between liking ones that are low mileage vs liking ones that are cheaper and higher mileage but have had money spent on them.

Looking at the reviews it looks like they’re not guaranteed to work (clearly) so its hit and miss, but I’m thinking for £20 its worth a shot and I’ll pick up a 16 & 17mm socket while I’m there.

Unhelpfully I'll say I think I have some of those but can't remember if they worked or not. I had a broken locking wheel nut at Rockingham one time. Maybe a local garage can get them off, unless you've tried that route already?

Seems to be 50-50 for success rate.

One local garage is willing to take a look but they’re incredibly busy just now so its not going to be quick.

Porsche can do it and the seller I bought the car from has said they’ll pay the £198, but they can’t take a look until end of next week.

I’ve rescheduled mobile tyre fitters a couple of times already and they’re due to come tomorrow, so thought this might be worth a try before I postpone them yet again.

Depends on the nuts, a lot have a hardened or spinning outer which most removers will struggle to bite into. They don’t look like they’ll be as good as fluted Irwin extractors.

No chance of smacking a slightly too small 12 sided imperial Socket on them?

Socket set is the backup plan. I need to try something...

I’m guessing Kwik Fit mobile fitters won’t even look to try and get them off? Can just do the “shit its the wrong size locking nut key” when he turns up.

Tbh I’d have thought it was quite common for tyre fitters to get cars with missing or broken locking but keys and would come equipped with tools to remove them.

But maybe that’s just me having some common sense and the real world might be very different
