There is no other type of deposit. The guy I bought it off set his kitchen on fire while I was there but otherwise seemed trustworthy.Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 8:50 pmWas it LARGE and CASH ?Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 8:16 pm In other news, I have put down a deposit on a Jag XF...

I only took one unfortunately, pulled over waiting for a timber truck to come the other way. Sadly doesn’t do the windy twisty road any justice...nuttinnew wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:29 amOoh! Managed to find a 2012 (facelift) 3.0 diesel. FSH, the previous owner had been getting rinsed by Jag main dealer services (including paying £1500 last year for cambelt and the works!). Only advisory on MOT was a brake pipe I think. 120,000 miles is the fly in the ointment but I’m taking the risk as it looks well looked after... pick up Friday!JonMad wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 8:57 amooh, details please.Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 8:16 pm In other news, I have put down a deposit on a Jag XF...

The details we all really want are about the kitchen conflagration.

Great. I'm similarly looking at Merc CLS 350CDis. Alternating between liking ones that are low mileage vs liking ones that are cheaper and higher mileage but have had money spent on them.Explosive Newt wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:53 amManaged to find a 2012 (facelift) 3.0 diesel. Re: Your fleet running reports
Has anybody used these locking wheel nut removers before?
https://www.halfords.com/tools/hand-to ... 96823.html
Looking at the reviews it looks like they’re not guaranteed to work (clearly) so its hit and miss, but I’m thinking for £20 its worth a shot and I’ll pick up a 16 & 17mm socket while I’m there.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Unhelpfully I'll say I think I have some of those but can't remember if they worked or not. I had a broken locking wheel nut at Rockingham one time. Maybe a local garage can get them off, unless you've tried that route already?

Seems to be 50-50 for success rate.JonMad wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:01 pm Unhelpfully I'll say I think I have some of those but can't remember if they worked or not. One local garage is willing to take a look but they’re incredibly busy just now so its not going to be quick.
Porsche can do it and the seller I bought the car from has said they’ll pay the £198, but they can’t take a look until end of next week.
I’ve rescheduled mobile tyre fitters a couple of times already and they’re due to come tomorrow, so thought this might be worth a try before I postpone them yet again.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Depends on the nuts, a lot have a hardened or spinning outer which most removers will struggle to bite into. They don’t look like they’ll be as good as fluted Irwin extractors.
No chance of smacking a slightly too small 12 sided imperial Socket on them?

I’m guessing Kwik Fit mobile fitters won’t even look to try and get them off? Can just do the “shit its the wrong size locking nut key” when he turns up.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Tbh I’d have thought it was quite common for tyre fitters to get cars with missing or broken locking but keys and would come equipped with tools to remove them.
But maybe that’s just me having some common sense and the real world might be very different
