Re: Fur Seals: Secret Lab Titan XL (2020)

Hmm, seeing as I've been using a £15 Ikea chair to work from home for the last 3 years, I should probably get something more ergonomic (although surprisingly, my back hasn't failed yet).

Garage Door Servicing

I didn't know this was a thing. Our motorised garage door, about 2 years old, has started making some ominous noises in operation. https://youtu.be/EIcb511tt0c I first put it down to the weather but it's fairly consistently making a racket. As I don't want it to fail and risk leave the garage insecu...

Re: The fry-up of correctness

I used to grill my bacon but I like using the fat from the bacon rind to cook it in, no extra butter/oil, to a decent level of crispiness, then using the remainder of the bacon fat for the eggs afterwards (which are quick, so the bacon stays hot). Then into a toasted bagel, with a smear of brown sau...

Re: The fry-up of correctness

The CORRECT contents of a fry-up are: # fried eggs = 2 or 3 # scrambled eggs portions = 0 # poached eggs = 0 # omlettes = 0 # streaky bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 0 # back bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 2 or 3 # sqkware sausages = 1 (if in Scotland) # link sausages = 2 or 3 # Haggis po...

Re: Letting family members drive your cars third party

You bend you mend it always applies. This. I'm not precious about my cars, as long as people understand they're 100% responsible for what happens I don't mind who drives. You yourself have driven my Compact, @JonMad ! Yep, low value track/race cars and having discussed that, more than happy. It was...

Letting family members drive your cars third party

Where you are fully comp, for a reason, generally car value, and they are permitted by their own insurance to drive your car, but third party only. What are your thoughts on this?
Could also apply to friends driving your car, but feels like with family it's a more contentious question.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Crossover thread ! I've listed the Galaxie for sale on ebay. I've been in to amend the description and up popped the - LOL - "AI" option: Experience the thrill of driving a classic 1966 Ford Galaxie Convertible RHD. This two-door beauty comes with six seats, automatic transmission, and a ...

Re: FTAO Macbook experts

Had the case bulged at all? i.e. does it sit flat or have a wobble. Someone on here (if it was you, lol) pointed me to an extended warranty so I managed to get my battery (and keyboard) replaced for free. That was a MacBook Pro 2012 iirc. Whether you have that issue, and the same is available for yo...

Re: Starters for Christmas dinner

Currently looking at an all American Diner on Christmas Day this year. Normally no starter then the biggest plate of roast ever. Room for Xmas Pud but not cake. Chocs/crisps/peanut and booze are enough of a starter.

Re: Pops and bangs

Reads like they were unlucky to be picked in a sting operation. Probably a Google search of local tuners, surely there are loads that offer such mods.
I wonder if it was the decat pipe (emissions failure) or noise levels from the exhaust, or both, that they got them on.

Re: Value of vintage furniture

We've got some old mahogany chairs and tables in the garage. Tried a few local antique places years ago, they didn't offer much at all. Should probably revisit that as they are just taking up space.

Re: Advice requested - which may be ignored of course

I have a jump starter and it has proven itself very useful indeed, on my cars and on neighbours' cars. Great bits of kit. Would get one of those and just keep the current trickle charger.

edit: late to the party on that reply :)

Re: Smartwatch v mechanical watch

Back OT, got myself a Garmin health tracker/fitness/smart watch but still wanted to wear my other watches, so most days during the week I'm wearing two (Garmin always on my right wrist, the 'wrong' one). At the weekends or on hols I'll just wear the smartwatch (on my left wrist). I find the notifica...
