Re: RS5

I'm sure I had cars with sub-300 mile range before - the Impreza Turbo rings a bell - but I didn't drive to work in those days.

Need to get on with putting my actual car plans in place for this year (changing the Jimny for a Tourareg) rather than thinking about changing the S6 for something else. I ...

These three, our youngest kittens, are 4 years old today. How time flies.

Re: RS5

It’s not a cut-off point so much as being used to an easy 600 miles’ range. Even in the MX5 which can do 300 miles I have to think about finding a petrol station sooner than I’d like.

I bet the RS5 will not average 30mpg so 45l is simply too small. Maybe a 300 mile range if you can do 50 miles on ...

Re: RS5

They’re definitely smaller on the whole - but 60l for the E53 AMG is more acceptable. Seems SUVs still get proper sized tanks.

Re: Bye bye Starmer

The margin was too big for it being a protest vote, it was a win.

However, i think it has opened the door to future protest voting. All of a sudden there’s an “alternative” option getting a chunk of their own votes, with their own policies and candidates, with a leader that isn’t as bland as ...

Re: Bye bye Starmer

I've just read that Starmer has written to all Labour MPs attacking the Green party for embracing divisive and sectarian politics. I've been a bit uncomfortable with how close his message has been to Reform's since his election (the "island of strangers" speech was particularly bad) and this seems ...

accompanying someone to the ballot box is not an offence or banned, btw.

Thought it sensible to show the statute on this:

ETA: There's also been one hell of a row about "family voting" going on, with one group claiming that such shenanigans were the highest they've ever noted, but the returning officer responding that concerns should have been raised during the voting window, not after the polls had closed.

It's ...

Re: RS5

Listening to the Autocar podcast this week, Matt Prior mentioned that his driving impressions story and video on the RS5 are published next Wednesday. But he also mentions that the fuel tank is only 45l and the boot is compromised by the batteries (which I thought must be the case because the seats ...

Ouch, hope you're OK. Is that your work vehicle? Being without that will be a pain I'm sure; if it impacts your ability to work make sure you put in a claim for lost earnings.

Re: Randomness

That happened to be on when we turned the telly on last weekend so I saw it too. Giving the one who had fallen twice a ladder (at 1m 22s) seemed generous, and then it looked like she might even beat the one in red on that final travelator - would have been a hollow victory!

Re: iPhone pocket dialing

I used to have that a lot - I'd try to ring off but the other person had done so already and where the hang up button was would be replaced by someone who I'd dial. Haven't had it for a while; I'm not sure if I just call people less, they hang up slower or if Apple have changed it. It's nothing to ...

Re: The House Projects Thread

I'd not heard of the Sunamp before and it does look sensible - though what material they use for the heat storage is not at all obvious. The Heatstream appealed to me on the basis of simplicity but as I mentioned to you, we got through two thermostats in ~7 years and it's specific to the Heatstream ...

There's a video of Tiff saying it's his, but it appears in plenty of other videos without Tiff. Was it a press/demo car where the films are coming out gradually but it has already become a long-termer for Tiff perhaps?

Re: Lego

You had to be canny with what you buy. Most Star Wars minifigures are going to be available in multiple versions and probably included with some sensible priced current sets. Get them in the regular discount sales at Argos or Smyths - generally price-matched by Amazon - and that’s the most cost ...

Re: Lego

The theatre is a Friends set from a few years ago which I bought intending to put Muppets in it. And I’ve finally done so. The Muppets were a series of collectible minifigures which again I bought a few years ago. They seem to be madly priced now so I’m glad I did; if you like some Lego buy it ...
