Not really a U-turn at all, more watered-down.
It’s such a contrast when we have a Tory press; they’d tell us that shit tastes of steak when the previous government did anything.
Just for clarity, I’ve never voted Labour and don’t support the party. But I no longer support the Tories and could ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
The only profligate spending you can see is the triple lock on pensions.
Come on - that's not even very good trolling.
Where is the spending profligate? It's nothing like your analogy of takeaways and the bookies. There's already committed stuff and not much new at all.
[Sorry, to be ...

That's got to be fake. The gen2 Cayenne isn't the same structure as the gen3 so the bits wouldn't just bolt on and the proportions wouldn't look the same if you got parts to fit.

There’s some fundamental misunderstanding l of what disability benefits are for. They’re not just to keep people from falling into abject poverty but to mitigate the extra costs that come with travelling, working etc with a disability.
It’s that equity thing again. The benefits help level the ...

I don’t know why I didn’t spot it yesterday but the OBR report says welfare spending will increase by £73bn to £406bn over the next 5 years. Which is almost all down to the triple lock on pensions.
That’s the thing which needs to be tackled. Can’t see Reform or Tories doing so though. Nor Labour ...

I do agree - this is apparently the largest tax take as a percentage of GDP ever. Spending it correctly is a duty they have to us, since we pay it.

If they are able to get value out of it, and it makes a difference to the country, then that's alright. I fear they won't, but then it's not like I'd have any confidence in any other party doing any better.
The trouble is, and this is just my simplistic view, is that to me it seems to be ...

I have bought myself a nicer helmet in the Black Friday sales - a Troy Lee Designs A3 for £99. It's forest green with bright yellow/green highlights. So I probably need to find some pedals which match the yellow/green now

Fiscal drag seems to be the policy now - Dan Neidle calculates that it's the biggest overall tax raiser from a single policy since WWII.ZedLeg wrote: Wed Nov 26, 2025 4:26 pm It would’ve been nice to see a raise in the personal allowance tbh.

Wrong choices? I mean, the right choice was a penny or two on income tax but she has hamstrung herself by sticking to the manifesto once again, so she does at least give the appearance of sticking to her word.

Before the budget there were people talking about Reeves being out of her job by Christmas. I really don't think that'll happen now. It seemed competent and hasn't spooked the markets.

Also it doesn’t matter what charity/cause you decide to support someone will moan about it.
Elon Musk gives a lot of money to charity. And then gets it back for his projects. Sadly we don't see enough moaning about this blatant tax dodge. But if you force people to do something like this ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
I'm not convinced the salary sacrifice thing will do much - if you earn £60,000 and put £10k into a pension through salary sacrifice you could easily agree with your employer that you'll earn £50,000 plus employer pension contributions of £10k and document it accordingly.

I listened to part of the News Agents podcast talking about this last night and my immediate thought was that I wouldn’t broadcast that line either. I believe it is probably true but I’d be wary of fighting in court an argument that Nixon was more corrupt, for instance. I don’t know enough American ...
