Re: Lego

Looking at the Lambo pics - I'm wondering what's special? Also thought Dom's Charger didn't look very good in the flesh. I liked the orange GT3 but that was pretty sparse in the bodywork so looked more Lego; the Chiron had better bodywork but I didn't buy it, and the same is going to be true of the...

Re: Coronavirus

What's this localised lockdown idea all about? It's already the case, isn't it? Scotland and Wales are different to England. Why not make it smaller scale, so if an outbreak occurs in Weston-super-Mare, for instance (not taking a random example, the hospital there was overrun with new COVID19 admis...

Re: Project Redneck

Yeah, but the allowance for smaller plates only applies if the design of the vehicle doesn't allow a legal sized plate to fit. E.G. in my case a full size plate doesn’t fit in the standard plate holder. Indeed: "“Size and spacing of characters: special cases 14A.—(1) This regulation applies in rela...

Re: Specialist Cars of Malton

Simon - who was the salesman who was a PH regular who used to bang on all the time about how much they sold? Believe sales stalled once he left but always felt it didn't add up markmullen, I believe. During the course of my perusal of the 911 forum I've discovered a thread about 4-Star Classics too...

Regs VXR8 didn't sell in large enough numbers to require European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval officer. Yeah, but the allowance for smaller plates only applies if the design of the vehicle doesn't allow a legal sized plate to fit. E.G. in my case a full size plate doesn’t fit in the standa...

Re: Specialist Cars of Malton

Its an interesting one that. Not entirely my area of law, but I would have expected (subject to specific terms agreed between the dealer and the owner of the car - which may very well be how these things work) that the dealer would be selling the car as the agent and fiduciary of the owner. Any pro...

Re: Project Redneck

Are they legal? :? You can fit reduced-size font for an import, but you still need the plate mfr postcode, BS number etc.... The rules on markings for plates came in during 2001 (actually in the middle of Y plates, not just for 51 plates). Rev's car and registration is older than 2001, so there was...

Re: Specialist Cars of Malton

Fair fair Jobbo ;) Another cracker. Customer reports buying 'immaculate, original and fully restored' 911S 2.4S for £235k Customer then reports getting it inspected, turns out that describing it as triggers broom wouldn't be wildly inaccurate. Nasty Funnily enough I was just reading that - particul...

going to the polis won't help as the dealer effectively owns the car at that stage.
It's not a criminal offence to become insolvent, but the dealer never owns your car - the new buyer does once they've paid the dealer for it though.

Re: Specialist Cars of Malton

Jobbo, am I reading that correctly, are you saying if the dealer goes bust the seller could end up without their car in a sale or return scenario? Yes, absolutely that. If the buyer of your Sale or Return vehicle pays the dealer in good faith, the car is sold to them and there's no comeback against...

They ceased trading in February, apparently, though they had been in the hands of administrators for a while before that: https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/specialist-cars-malton-goes-administration-17826047 And there have been Sale or Return stories of woe for longer: http://www.911uk....

Re: Coronavirus

Which obviously benefits employees in the here and now. It's totally inseparable mutual advantage. The argument it doesn't offer protection from redundancy after this is all over is not an argument for it benefiting primarily businesses. How could it offer protection indefinitely? To be frank this ...

Re: Coronavirus

You clearly work for a shady employer who has just needlessly taken advantage of the situation/scheme. This does explain a few things! That's a bit harsh - the scheme wasn't subject to any particular requirements to qualify to use it. If Zed's colleagues couldn't get to work then it's perfectly rea...

Re: Coronavirus

IMO it still ultimately benefits the employer. When it comes to reopen they wouldn’t be in a position to do so if they’d made all their staff redundant and in the meantime they’ve had a vastly reduced wage bill. This is purely from my perspective working for an online brand. We furloughed about a q...

Re: Coronavirus

It’s not really, it ultimately benefits the companies using it who would either have to sack and rehire all their staff or pay them their full wages. I think that analysis is wrong - maybe this opinion is swayed by me now being an employer. Furloughing was surely introduced to prevent employers mak...

No thanks I don't have issues.
Didn’t you have liver trouble due to your drinking? Or was that fake news too?

Re: Coronavirus

Does it really matter? Yes. Maybe if you've an agenda or need an axe sharpening I guess its useful. Isn't getting the country back on its feet however. Why did we have a lockdown at all if it was perfectly ok to go travelling round the country when you’re displaying actual symptoms of the virus?
