Re: Trump guilty
https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2024/05/i-looked-into-angela-rayners-tax-affairs-heres-what-i-found# I have to admit, I didn’t realise a married couple may only have ONE main residence between them. It’s obvious enough if they live together in one place and have a holiday home in another, but...

Re: Trump guilty
I’ll never understand how a man who’s a proven degenerate liar has somehow convinced people he’s an honest politician.
Every accusation levelled at the political “establishment” is equally true of Trump.

I take it that Nixon’s assertion that “when the president does it, that means it’s not illegal” has never been tested in court

Re: Trump guilty
He could be jailed and still be President, the US is that weird. Despite convicted felons not being allowed to vote, or hold security clearance. The US is THAT weird. This is incredulous - i can't work for the government unless i get Security Clearance, Counter Terrorism Clearance, Background check...

Re: Toyota GR Yaris
Oh, I dunno. I just assumed they had changes they needed to homologate so they were drumming up sales.
£60k is a bit strong even in light of my previous flippant comment.

Re: Toyota GR Yaris
It's fun that every time a new £40k hot hatch comes out people act surprised at the price, like it's not been the going rate for about 5 years

Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?
Rev counters are nice to have but not essential imo.
Even if you’re Out For a Drive you won’t always be looking at the rev counter for gearchanges etc.
Noise and familiarity with the car play their part.

The Volvo bug has been biting again. Seeing a C30 the other day has led me to the cheapest manual T5 on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266828727472?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=CfHSmDHJRGq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=dw1qcekfrvi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&me...

Re: New 911
My main takeaway from the Top Gear video was that it was nice to see Ollie Kew doing well tbh.
I think it looks alright and the tech doesn't bother me but I wouldn't buy one.

Re: State of the Roads
The roads round me seem to be dissolving in this rain we've had for the last week tbh.
Every morning there's a new big hole on my route to work. I ended up unlocking the forks on my bike after hitting one so hard I bit my tongue .

Re: Speed Limiters - July '24
That's what I was thinking tbh. The only argument for a limiter affecting sales is that people buy performance cars specifically to drive in ways that are illegal. Which I'm not sure is a thread we really want to pick at

Re: Today’s want
The auto thing isn't as surprising as you might think tbh. The 350 that was in the C4 wasn't particularly sporty and the original 4 speed was a bit shit, the best way to drive was the same either way. Stick it in third and use the torque. There's a thriving cottage industry in swapping in LS1 and T5...

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
Rishi’s national service policy is a master stroke. Honestly believe that it could win him a lot of votes. The young people who are more likely to oppose the policy are also the ones not voting. But the irony is that anyone who is old enough to vote is already past the point of being enrolled in na...

Re: Bucket list items.
There are a couple of car related things that I’d really like to do.
I would like to build a car that’ll hit 200 on a quarter mile, which means something that’ll run into the 6s and needs at least 2500bhp.
Drive something with real aero round a fast circuit.
