What sort of time are you thinking? I'm at a course in Regents Park until about 2.30.

Also it's my 40th very very very uncomfortably soon.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread

All I can say is that the owner had a laminated bit of A4 in the windscreen proclaiming it thus. I would imagine the Jag owners club would police this aggressively.

That said, I don't think the vents at the top of the front bumper were there on the early XKR-S.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread

Weird that the bonnet vents differ. Different eras I think. 2007 on the left vs 2014 on the right. And that confused me, so I just went to check. The XKR-S wasn't released until 2012, so looks like the black car is modificated. No, there were two generations of XKR-S. 4.2L (which, further reading t...

I was also suprised to find a pair of XKR-S cars right next to each other which came as a bit of a suprise as I think there are only quite a small number (200?) in the UK. https://gallery.ov9.co.uk/images/2025/06/23/jag-4.jpg Weird that the bonnet vents differ. Wandered to the shops yesterday morning and stumbled across a Jaguar Owners Club meetup happening on the cathedral green. https://gallery.ov9.co.uk/images/2025/06/23/Jag-1.jpg https://gallery.ov9.co.uk/images/2025/06/23/Jag-2.jpg I was also suprised to find a pair of XKR-S cars right next to each ot...

Re: small mugs

Mrs Newt likes tea at a temperature which is near thermonuclear whereas I prefer my beverage to have cooled a little prior to drinking. This is a shame as my fave mug is a nice thick one which feels good in the hand but takes ages to cool. At work, they went on a drive to eliminate disposable cup wa...

Exposing it to 30,000 gauss may well do that!
I will look into it...

Re: The Watches Thread

So earlier this week I had to hammer in some round fence posts. Top tip - tighten a jubilee clip around the tops to stop them splitting when you smack them. 8-) I’m right handed, but was steadying each post with my left. Which is the wrist I wear my watch on. I’d done about 6 posts before I realise...

A facilities agreement which does not take in recent detail and is liable to fall?

Agreed on the wine gums situation. Maynards for life.

I too have a case of the Beanies and keep looking back at it. Rhodium Silver metallic really suits it I think 8-) They are lovely things. I very much miss mine. The pre facelift is a bit frumpy but your generation is sleek and imposing. And bloody long, I remember it overhanging most parking bays!

Re: Your fleet running reports

Not my fleet but a friend has just taken delivery of a 2-year old Cayman GTS and is very pleased with it, other than finding it too noisy. He is apparently going to remove the door cards and put some form of sound deadening inside.

I'm skeptical but it's his motor.

Re: Which exercise is best for back pain?

Also 100% yes to what Dave said about creatine, there's basically no downside to taking it, and possibly more upsides than simply building muscle, they think it could be linked to helping your brain too. There is cool science on this - magnetic resonance spectroscopy allows you to detect the concen...

One recent anecdote I forgot to mention was interviewing students. We're trying to move back to in person interviews but we still do a lot of interviewing over Teams (student travel being a widening access concern for the most part). I interviewed someone who, whenever you asked a question, they wou...

Owned one, loved it. That diesel V6 is really tremendous, I know it’s a cliche but you forget it’s a diesel. Sips fuel cruising along the motorway in 8th but gives you shove when you need it. Happy wafting!

Okay, I'm not mad, but... I'm going to visit all 10 of the service stations on the Which? list this weekend, with an overnight stay at Norton Canes on Saturday and Tebay on Sunday. Basically a "what's the best food at UK service stations" type video, combined with a hook of "I SPENT ...
