Re: Bye Bye Boris!

It's mostly austerity that has buggered the NHS but that is austerity layered on top of woeful financial and workforce planning dating back to the 1990s. I agree that Bozza can't soak up all of the blame for that.

Re: Your fleet running reports

I bought a lovely little cottage back in June, which also meant I'd no longer be walking to work. As much as I'd love to be using the 650i every day, it's far too costly, especially with the round trip being 60 miles. So I acquired a 2.2 diesel Civic (FN shape) from a family friend not long after t...

Suprised to hear various world leaders condemning the Luxembourg chap for essentially "no-platforming" bozza. Even Macron, who has not been our biggest admirer of late.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!

Well, back before CERN turned on the LHC and destroyed our original timeline (what we call the Berenstein Timeline), he would absolutely have had to resign. On this timeline, who knows? But if he loses the court case, it means he effectively lied to the monarch. Not sure what the first bit of your ...

Re: FTAO of mobile phone owners/users

A crappy, knackered folding case with a magnetic close clip. Worn, frayed, looks like you wouldn’t want it. And you probably wouldn’t as it holds my free work iPhone SE. Is it still straight? When I had an se it was the bendiest phone I’ve ever had I’ve had an SE for nearly 4 years (relegated to ba...

Re: Arthritis

Should be straightfoward then. GP just writes to Mr so-and-so and you should get an appointment. I assume the GP will already be familiar with your condition if they are giving you steroid injections etc. It's not easy surgery so if it's worked for your dad then this guy sounds like a keeper (discla...

^^^ that. Although your GP may struggle if it is out of your local area, unless this chap is some sort of national specialist.

Re: Arthritis

Christ it's painful, my thumb joint has been getting steadily worse over the past couple of years, steroid injections mask it but when they wear off it's always worse. Doesn't help it's my mouse driving thumb either! Have you looked into orthotics? Can be useful, especially if the joint has worn du...

Re: eBay 996 build thread

Finally did my traditional binding trip to Wales. Didn’t have a full day to myself but managed to go to The Ponderosa for breakfast, then on to the Triangle with a quick stop off at the Llyn Brenig visitor centre. The weather and roads were glorious. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2WLcH5gYQN/?igshid=...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Getting rid of the car cover now as I think it has put one or two tiny scratches in the paintwork and the car now appears to be waterproof at last. Is the Boxster’s electronic oil level sensor thingumty just incredibly inaccurate? Sometimes it reads bang on the middle and others it reads low. I am ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

That's all very well and good but how does it know when to change gear? All very straightforward now when your iphone could probably control it but what about in the 1960s when people were sticking these into American hot rods?

Was that for services to giving the Mrs a slap? Edit: Oh, and he was on R4 this morning telling us he voted Leave because he was convicted of slapping his Mrs in France  I was listening to Today when that came on. I think it was really badly handled by the interviewer - rather than introducing...

Suddenly realised that a Boxer engine is so called because 4 horizontally opposed cylinders looks like two boxers throwing punches at each other.

Seems obvious now.

When I lived in Cambridge there was a tremendous pub quiz at the Empress every Tuesday run by an electrician and Ted Hughes’ nephew. Dreadful pub but a really smart and inventive quiz.

It’s more because it’s my work local than my own local. I think wherever I have worked, there has been a favoured hospital pub that we have frequented.
