Re: Randomness
Didn't feel this was worthy of it's own thread, however a friend of mine is raffling a S1 land rover for £20 a ticket in case anyone fancies a punt

Re: Harry’s Garage
@mikeyb My last trip to Skye was in a big (7m long) motorhome too. Which was 8-) but also :(
Good news on the V8 front though 8-) Shout if you want an opinion on a VXR8 :D
Our motorhome was based on a Ford Transit and I was impressed with how it handled. However seeing some twisties I did ...

Re: Harry’s Garage
I've just returned from a roadtrip oop north that resembled a very similar route to that taken by Harry, albeit mine took in Skye and after reaching Tongue, headed due south to Lairg and then over to the Cairngorms and back to Cumbria. Unfortunately I didn't do it in anything exciting (a motorhome ...
Re: 2016 335D
I had a 2016 330d X-drive. The N57 engines have a good reliability record but bottom end failures are starting to become more common on 335ds. I had no issues on mine, I owned it for 3.5 years and did about 70k miles. Only needed consumables.

Re: Advice needed - Facebook Marketplace
We only do cash with marketplace, there's always some scammer knocking if it's an item of any value. They're not very subtle though, always want to do some shit involving PayPal.
However if you've found them on LinkedIn etc it sounds pretty low risk. I've been pretty trusting when buying stuff ...

Good idea, I'll ask them when I drop them off.Zonda_ wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:18 am Ask the wheel place to give you a signed receipt for them? If they are reputable they shouldn't have any issue doing it.

Re: Advice needed - Facebook Marketplace
I'd be cautious simply because facebook marketplace is the wild west with no recourse if things go tits up. Althohgh it makes sense that he'd want them dropped somewhere because moving sets of wheels around is a PITA. However, if you drop them at the wheel place and get payment via BACS before ...

Re: Advice needed - Facebook Marketplace
Doesn't sound that weird to me - although I would have thought he'd pay you before you release the good?
Take pics of you at the wheel refurb place with your boot open showing the wheels (and one where your reggie is visible).
Take pics of the same wheels inside the refurb place.
Take a pic of ...

Advice needed - Facebook Marketplace
I'm selling some wheels and winter tyres on FB marketplace and I just wanted some advice as to whether there's potentially something fishy with the buyer.
I'll try to keep this short.... I'm based in Cumbria and listed some wheels and winter tyres on marketplace. After only a few days, some guy ...

Re: VAT on Private Schools poll
The last point I’ll make is from a discussion today with a fellow partner (from our tax team) - fees charged may not necessarily increase by 20% if VAT is applied. The reason being is that savings could be made by claiming VAT on expenses, thereby reducing outgoings. It may be that the fee ...

Re: VAT on Private Schools poll
There’s some really interesting views above. I have no vested interest in what happens to school fees, as I’m lucky enough to live in an area where there a very good state/grammar schools. However a lot of my clients will suffer and the effects on dramatically increasing school fees does concern ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
It's only just occurred to me - belm - is there a decent RR forum ? Classifieds there might be a good place to look.
Never used it, but it’s a sister forum to the Disco3/4 which I did use and it was very good informative with people happy to take the time to explain shizzle.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I wonder if they put ‘spares and repairs’ on the sales invoice?!
When I was in the classic car trade it wasn’t uncommon for the sales invoice to basically say that it was a piece of art to look at, rather than drive…
To be fair to my boss at the time, when selling cars like 1960s Maseratis ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Indeed. Currently obsessing with specs of L405 Range Rovers. In theory one of those would cover the roles of both Cayenne & Bentley.
Take someone with you when you go to the Vogue Centre. I went to look at an L322 and I’m pretty sure it was a pikey site….
Ironically I bought an L322 elsewhere ...

Re: Range Rover.
Ah OK - I'm sure you're right. Keyless start is half the problem though as the body control module can be fooled into thinking that a key is in the car by the crims plugging something into the OBD II.
You still need to get in but jammers to stop you locking it or even just a broken window would ...

I thought L322s weren't so affected by insurance premium hikes but this picture is from a cash machine ram raid in Cheltenham - this morning I think.

Ah yes. The rear one (intake?) proved troublesome on mine to change. The one on the front of the engine was a piece of piss to change.

Re: Mini Cooper S/Works
My GP is a 2013 and has the N18.
I think the S got the N18 before the JCW did. Either way I’m fairly certain both models had the N18 from 2012.
As said above, turbos don’t seem to be the issue with either engine. N14s suffered with timing chains and High Pressure Fuel Pump issues. N18s suffer with ...

Re: Advice requested - which may be ignored of course
I have both Mik, a couple of MXS5.0 for maintaining batteries and have recently bought a Noco GB50, as the RR struggles to start in winter, particularly when the FBH is on. Previously when it wouldn’t start, I’d resort to using the CTEK to charge it enough to start it, but it takes a while to build ...
