I think the trinket/investment comment applies to the majority of the high-end stuff they had on show. I doubt anyone buys a G-Wagon as an investment, but the rest applies.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread

The local toy store had an open day with select customers invited to bring their cars to show in addition to what was in the showroom. There was free (proper) coffee and a decent buffet. Boys where besides themselves with excitement.

Last time I was there he was working on a 2022-23 Peugeot that needed some wiring replaced (known fault apparently), and a kit with five wires, two plugs, and an overall length not exceeding 10 inches, was £70+

It does seem crazy, but if it turns the repair into a plug & play job ...

Digital Picture Frame

Still not managed to hack the Nixplay frame, so I've bought an Aura Aspen instead.

What a revelation! It is looks much better, the picture quality is amazing, and the app is super simple to use, took me all of a minute to get it set up to sync with Google Photos.

The whole thing is made to feel ...

I get all my coffee from White Rose in Yorkshire, they have an amazing selection of single origin coffees from around the world that are amazing value compared to most of the cool roasters in London. I buy 2kg of beans every month or so. It’s a small no-nonsense business and I’ve probably ...

Sadly no pictures as I was driving, but two yellow spots on the M25 today: A Ferrari Dino, and a Lamborghini Diablo SV.

Lambo looked like a 4:3 ratio picture stretched to wide-screen.

Outside a few of the major cities, there is no pedestrian access to anything. It is crazy.

Years ago I was visiting a friend in Charlotte North Carolina. He lived in the suburbs in a flat. About half a mile down the road was a retail park with a supermarket, we could see it from his windows. To ...

Re: 8 port ethernet hub - recommendations

Do you plan to power cameras or other devices directly from the switch? Then PoE (Power over Ethernet) is needed.

Do you want/need to segment the network? If yes, you'll need a managed switch that'll do VLANs.

What throughput do you want? 1Gbps/port enough or do you want 2.5 or 10?

Where will it ...

We've had a right nightmare in the office the last week. The fancy machine the in-house baristas use broke, so we had to make do with just plain filter coffee.

Parts prices and availability is crazy. The auto electrician I use for the Zoe has had to turn away cars because he can't source the spare parts, even on relatively new cars, and the costs for the parts he can get are eye-watering.
