Re: Coronavirus

Ours is open-ended, no decision made. Offices are open for a few people with special permission and VIPs, but as long as the social distancing advice/rules are in place, they're not changing things.

Friend's husband is Lebanese. He's from Beirut. Family is safe, they're still tracking down friends. Awful situation.

Re: Race report

Ouch! Shame about the second race, but looks like you had fun up until that point.

Any further ideas on what is causing the misfire?

Re: Talk me out of buying a car

Before considering the first one I'd ask questions about what recommissioning they've done. Three years is a long time for the car to sit and rot.

Just picked this up, 2 owner from new, 2.6 auto, cream leather, 119,000 miles. Really happy with it!
Another one to clean, polish and flip? Presumably it'll need some nicer wheels.

Re: Car insurance

Had the renewal come through for the car at £582 for the year, up £60ish from last year. Was tempted to let it roll over, but as we're using Wesleyan for other things I let have them a go, they normally offer extra discounts. They came back with £450, so we took that. Useful saving! I then contacted...

Re: Decent Recent TV

Started watching Normal People last night, and ended up doing the first 5 episodes back-to-back. :o Beautifully shot love story, with loads of very uncomfortable and "jeezus, remember your youth?" type scenes. Pretty emotional. Some great acting too imho. Don't watch with your kids as there is quit...

Can't change my vote, but I stand corrected. Your combined superior knowledge on the topic convinced me I was wrong to assume both needed doing as a pair.

Should I ever need one done, I know better now. Internet isn't all bad!*

Re: The House Projects Thread

I'm aware how bad things are. Not a straight, even, plumb or even surface anywhere. When we had the floors done last year they smoothed out the worst of the dips and level differences, but even so there's still lots of flex. The extension is far worse than the original house which says something abo...

Re: The House Projects Thread

Spent the weekend sorting out the youngest's room. We've moved her out of the cot and into a child's bed. This then have us the opportunity to rearrange things and give her more space for clothes, toys, etc. Room definitely needs painting but that's for later. I assembled the bed, bookcase and wardr...

It's a smut double-whammy. You can mention "Bristols" and "69" in the same breath :D Bristols? Slang for breasts ! Edit - having Googled, it's rhyming slang. Bristol City = Titty. :D Thank you for your commitment to my continuing education in all important aspects of Britishness.

Re: Career Change or Sideline

@Ascender A more general understanding. When I started with the company we were very small and I defaulted to looking after the equipment because I’m “good with computers”. We’re much larger now and our requirements are starting to outstrip my knowledge/ability to google. Need something that ...
