Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
i like the wheels, especially with the black paint and red calipers. Interior isn’t my colour but looks very nicely specced.
Approved.

F40?
Nice spec

Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
I don't know my Porsches, but that looks really nice. Enjoy it! Agree with @Jobbo about the wheels too. They look spot on.

Love the colour and the wheels. Not an interior colour I’d go for but the more I look at it the more I approve.
Congrats! More details please!

That looks really nice. I like the interior, it is a nice change from endless black.

Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
It has
a 3.4 flat six (out of the equivalent Carerra) so a (claimed) 4.7s 0-60
PDK (7-speed twin clutch gearbox) - and with paddles and the sports steering wheel, some of these cars have a tiptronic style sheel which is a bit rubbish - and there is an autoblip on downshifts (which is rather nice when you switch the valve open on the exhaust)
PASM (Porsche active suspension management i.e. adaptive damping) - I'm not sure this is of great use on British roads so I would put this as "nice to have"
Bose sound with the 3.1 infotainment system (relatively easy carplay upgrade it looks like)
For the connoisseurs that is PDK, PSM, PASM, PDLS, PSE and PCM3.1.
Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
I've seen quite a few people discussing the Porsche official retrofit unit. Apparently with fitting it works out as thousands and it's basically an Aliexpress unit. So don't go the official route to add Carplay; I'm fairly sure yours will be the same unit as @DaveE has in his 981 and which he fitted Carplay to a couple of years ago.Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2026 8:18 am Bose sound with the 3.1 infotainment system (relatively easy carplay upgrade it looks like)

I assume you'll have new business cards printed with your full medical letter soup after your name, and the car with it's list of acronyms below that.

Yep, bought it from AliExpress for about £100Jobbo wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2026 9:22 amI've seen quite a few people discussing the Porsche official retrofit unit. It's basically a circuit board you install inside the main PCM headunit (plus some wiring that connects to the existing harness
Fitted it all myself, there are some good video guides on YouTube
Works really well - wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play - and easy to toggle back and forth between this and the existing PCM by long-pressing on the "navi" button
Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
I like the interior, and I like the exterior too! Does indeed look like a very nicely spec'd 981 to me

That looks lovely Will, well deserved. Hope you enjoy the pick up process!
Is this to replace the Tesla or as a second car?

On the way to get it now. Bag of nerves!
It's a second car, for now anyway. Tesla does commuting and long distance trips really well.

Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
I've seen the Mr12Volt boxes advertised (£400 the unit or £600 fitted) which seem to have good press. Agree the official Porsche job doesn't seem that great. There are different options for 3.0 vs 3.1 I think.DaveE wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2026 9:41 amYep, bought it from AliExpress for about £100Jobbo wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2026 9:22 amI've seen quite a few people discussing the Porsche official retrofit unit. Re: Obligatory New Car Guessing Thread
Very nice! This is by far the best spec of the ones you'd looked at IMO.Explosive Newt wrote: Mon Oct 19, 2026 6:40 pmYes!
Sorry I was being disengenious when I didn't answer to V8 Vantage or Cayman but you can't end it on the second post.
2014 Cayman S with various bits of desirable kit (active suspension, switchable exhaust, adaptive headlights, etc), in great condition from a seemingly well regarded specialist who has refurbed the wheels, put new discs on and serviced it.
The interior is a bit special - two tone extended leather which I know won't be to everyone's taste but I think looks brilliant and actually sets it apart from the overwhelmingly high number of black interiors out there.
PSE is a big plus as is extended leather. My GTS has the full leather pack and it makes it feel a lot more luxurious than rubberised door tops. Sports seats with Porsche shields too!
