I mean, if they are, it took people long enough. "Was dropped on their head a lot, like really a lot, as a child" long enough.

I can see a use case for this Roadster tech - a gentle landing if you accidentally drive your car off a pier or cliff or whatever. There seem to have been a few instances of that this year, sadly. So really the target market should be cars driven by the elderly or who mix up the brake and accelerator. Not a sports car.

You know those air blasters they have in food factories to blast a burnt crisp off the conveyor? They should turn the blasters into those to gently push any pedestrians or cyclists about to get driven into gently out of the way 😄

This is why it has wheel covers on the 'jumping' car - to hide part of the fact that it's not a complete car.

Pretty minor issues compared to the entire interior being an air tank.

I must admit, that frame looks far more car like that I was expecting for the stunt.

So you've given Tesla an interest free $250,000 for ten years. I wonder how many other people did that, and how much interest that saved Tesla over a business loan or other corporate finance/fundraising?

I also wonder how much they would have made if they'd just wanged that $250,000 in the S&P 500. I'd guess at least double given it's gone from about 2500 in 2017 to near 8000 now, probably more if you reinvest it occasionally, etc.

One of the comments on the post says if he’d put it into Tesla stock it would be worth around 4.5M today.

He won’t have to take delivery of this one either, I suspect.

As for them taking into account the time value of money, perhaps he should have taken that into account before he gave Tesla $250,000 nine years ago 😂

Assuming they would have done something intelligent with the money if not for the reservation is a mighty brave assumption.
If anything Elon saved them from crippling depreciation by never making the thing 😂

i think at this stage, “loan” is the best case scenario for his $250k. What an idiot.

Just for reference, Musk is now saying the car will be sentient.

He's just making shit up now.

Also, technically if it's sentient and being forced to perform actions against it's will, that's technically slavery, which is very on brand for Musk.

Fuck anyone dumb enough to fall for any of Musk's bullshit

He now has a LONG history of starting things that are never delivered/completed - ANYONE believing anything he says now is just stupid
