Neither really, its a k20 gearbox case with a Samsonas straight cut dog engagement gear kit inside it, very far from standard.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Discovered a crack in the gearbox case of the Elise. Unfortunately I can’t remove the gearbox on its own so set about removing the entire engine and gearbox on Friday, stripped the box, replaced the case and got it all back together and back in the car yesterday.
Happy with that.

Re: Dan’s car
I hadn't got round to listening to it yet but someone messaged me on insta to say he thought he was talking about me.
My correction was slightly tongue in cheek, I understand where he was coming from as part of the larger conversation they were having, I also think he probably doesn't realise yet ...

I downloaded it yesterday and had a quick go, first impressions are very good, its better than the dirt / wrc franchises already as far as the driving experience goes.
Re: Dan’s car
Probably yes, his schedule is ridiculous so finding the time isn't easy.Jobbo wrote: Wed Nov 12, 2025 12:57 pm God, I look forward to seeing it on a dry track. Is the Chris Harris review going to wait for spring now?
Re: Dan’s car
Looks fun 8-) but simultaneously frustrating :?
What is VMax? Around 153mph?
(I was quickly (roughly) calculating your gearing - assuming your telemetry is accurate - 13mph/krpm in 4th, 14.8mph/krpm in 5th, 17mph/krpm in 6th : that's pretty sprinty ratios :geek: )
The speed is GPS generated ...
Re: Dan’s car
Yes and no I guess, depends how hard you push it.
Its got enough power to spin the wheels at will at 100mph in the wet though so its a bit of a handful.
Re: Dan’s car
Fabulous trackday at silverstone this week despite pretty nasty weather, only 2 red flags all day and one was only for a breakdown on the pit exit. Conditions were treacherous but driving standards were excellent.
I was hoping for a bit of dry weather to see if I could vmax the car down the hangar ...

You obviously earn good money, which is great, I wish I earned a lot more than I do, but you’re not being taxed 75% are you? That’s just misrepresenting the situation for sympathy.

I was going to offer a replacement micro switch for free as i'm bound to have a few lying around, but thats a much better ideaMatty wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 6:05 pm Looks like an excuse to upgrade a tired handbrake, Rich. If only you knew someone selling billet aluminium ones for a reasonable price.
Re: Dan’s car
I added a small additional titanium silencer into the system last week, weight penalty is only a couple of kilos so I can live with that and its taken a bit of the rasp out of the exhaust note which will hopefully mean I won't get flagged for noise the next time I go to Donington.

Good to meet you too, nice to put a face to a name I’ve known for so many years!
Re: Dan’s car
It might be a bit low for the road, although the ground effect clearly works on track as i've ground the heads off the titanium bolts holding the front clam on, which must have created some cool looking sparks

According to Chris Harris it looks very menacing coming up behind you on track too
