After using my Halfords professional socket set for the last 20 years or so my family have clubbed together and got me the mega super duper Advanced set with everything in it after I borrowed my brother's one a few weeks ago and said how amazing it was.

That and pants and cash. Oh, and a water flosser.

My lovely wife knows I like a bit of sausage (fnar, fnar) so bought me a meat grinder with sausage attachments so I can make my own. Also great for burgers and mince. What a tip top gift along with a sausage book.

Parentals bought me a nice bottle of Gosling's Rum and a ticket to go see Brian Cox (Manchester not Braveheart McJocks uncle)

No socks or grots this year sadly.

A Rollie Eggmaster, an original John Speed map and lots of Lego.

Looking forward to getting my own back by making breakfast with the Rollie. When I find a US transformer anyway.

I’ve never heard of the Rollie Eggmaster so I googled it.

A load of F1 related books, a bag of slinkies, some fjallraven hiking breeks and the new MI Blueray. Not a bad haul and all stuff I am happy with which is always a bonus. Can't stand loads of pressies then you open them and are immediately thinking who you can dump hem on! :D Given the many hundreds of pounds the new bits for the Volvo cost we did not go overboard.

I am also picking up a nice Panasonic Soundbar with sub from my Yorkshire family, not something I have had but the dookickey I bought to connect up my proper hi-fi to the new TV has a delay on it and I missed proper sound for films.

I know this will be an unpopular viewpoint but why didn't you all grow out of lego about 25 years ago?

The bigger sets are kind of like jigsaw puzzles, aren't they?

I'm not really into it as it's just more tat to have around your house but a few people I know build the big Technics sets.

I never got anything super exciting for christmas, a couple of cool t-shirts and a new bag.

Exactly the point. I grew out of jigsaw puzzles by the age of 8 as well. Anyway - each to their own.

You say that but somehow I don't believe you really mean it .

You should write a book of rules so we all know exactly how we're DIW.
