I wonder how many people living nearby would vote for average speed cameras at £500k? Surely the three r four lives that might be saved at say £120k per life would be better served by paying for a few extra nurses who would probably save more.

It is scary how much "grant money" washes around during austerity for stupid projects that nobody apart from politicians seem to want.

Which is of course why anytime some muppet politician pops up saying "we need to raise more in taxes for the NHS" you should beat them round the head like a human sized whack a mole and tell them to stop pissing money away on total shite first.

They have stopped spending £92,000 a year on homeopathic remedies, though, which is a start. That's 3 extra nurses right there.

I have had a blood test every week or fortnight for 2 years and I can’t figure out why there’s always 3-4 receptionists at the 2 branches I visit when only 1 is ever checking in patients and the other 2-3 are just talking crap with each other or doing the crossword. Sack all the damn receptionists and get more nurses - each waiting room has about 2 too many.
