DriveTribe (not dead)
Although some random tribes appear to be. Just logged back in, first time in months. Usual random interface and awful navigation, but also some tribes I either owned or had joined are missing, whereas other equally obscure entries still exist. Bizarre. Wonder whether it will die off at some point.
Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
It was always a hot-mess of a site IMO. Navigation and layout is appalling.

It was shit from day one. It doesn’t work as a format.

I see a lot of their content on Facebook rather than DT itself. Most of it is poorly written, badly researched garbage like “Top 10 Most Underrated Cars Ever! Number 1: Ferrari F40!”

Chewed through a frightening amount of money as well supposedly....
Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
IIRC you initially had to sign up through FB; although I think that changed it was already dead to me. Can't say I've regretted it, it's not like anyone ever mentions it.

Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
Yeah, has there ever been a post of here starting “i saw this on drivetribe...”? I don’t think so.
Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
Frankly it can't die soon enough. It was a fundamentally weak concept that they had to try way too hard to gain any acceptance. If people don't instantly "get" something, it's not going to work. Ditch it and move on. DriveTribe was an answer to a question no-one ever asked.

Even the name is shit, it sounds like something for kids.

Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
People keep trying to reinvent the wheel (drive republic, even our own pet flop autojournals) - like cars are something crazily different to any other subject on the internet that needs its own new format.
What was Clarksons tag line? It’s like “I don’t get it, it’s pornhub for cars” or something. Good lesson - Don’t invest in something you don’t understand the basic premise of.

I know we all had it in for Yu in the whole A-J era - seems a bit odd looking back, doesn't it! - and that (as ever) I was one of the worst for stirring the pot, but there was one question I had that I don't think was ever answered - namely that the only people who would contribute were likely to be fanboys, and therefore the very least suitable people for contributing to a knowledge resource of any kind.
A-J could have been useful if people actually objectively and accurately submitted, say, actual running costs but it quickly descended into "mpg - hmpf! Not many!" type crap and was instantly disposable as a result.

Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
All those knobbers setting up tribes and telling everyone they have a job working with Clarkson
“Oh yeah, I run a Tribe for Jezza on his new website, DriveTribes. He’s got one, Hamster has one, as does May. Then people can join out Tribes, and share loads of car-porn”
Etc

Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
Has that ever actually happened, even once? Can you provide substantiation if so please?
Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
Terrible format with awful content. I can see why shockers was so into it...!
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.
Re: DriveTribe (not dead)
I logged in to see if my two tribes are still there. Cars Of Klasse & Simulation Excitement X. They are. I logged out again.
Actually that's not strictly true, I didn't log out - BECAUSE YOU CAN'T. <world's biggest belm>

Who is Brian Griffiths, who is single-handedly keeping the Evo Magazine Readers alive?
Someone called Gary Newman posted a picture of a Mitsubishi Evo a year ago, but he was probably just confused.
