Macca Stats

Post by Holley »

A bit geeky, but couldn't help comparing the Senna acceleration times in this weeks recent Autocar against the old F1.

So to 100mph the Senna is 0.9sec quicker, to 150mph the Senna is 2.0sec quicker, to 180mph the Senna is just 0.5 sec quicker. Standing kilometre it's only 0.8 seconds quicker.

So off the line the Senna is faster (helped by stickier tyres and quicker box) but over 100mph there's nothing in it.

A quarter of a century older yet still mightily impressive 8-)

It doesn't look right, how can the F1 pull back 1.5 sec between 150-180 ?

That, I bet the Senna's more downforce oriented aero creates a lot more drag than the F1's.
An absolute unit

I really really dislike the senna, it looks awful, regardless of budget I wouldn't have one. :(

Very much that.

I currently have a 720S in my head as a "lottery win fun car", despite the fact I am only warm on the looks and it isn't manuel. The stats just grab me.....

720 doesn’t do much for me either, the P1 and 675 LT do though!

Yep same here, the 720 is a monster but doesn't grab me down there. And I can't stand the Senna.

Opinions that McLaren need not worry about too much 😂

This. The F1 would be toast on a circuit, but is and will always remain a wonderful thing.

I think the 600LT is the pick of the bunch for me currently. Absolutely love them, albeit the entire modern range pale in comparison to the F1.

Mate’s picking up his 570S next Tuesday. There’s a McLaren dealership in the village, so have driven a couple helping him choose. (Yes, I am a GREAT mate!)

All McLarens need close inspection to see their exquisite and intricate genius. I’d have a 720S tomorrow.

Oh, saw this drive through Ascot earlier this week. Far worse looking imho.

As it is John Collins, owner of Talacrest, and he also picked up his LaFerrari prototype this month, I imagine his eyes a quite dry. 😂
Cheers,

Saw a 570S spider locally the other week and thought it looked great TBH. I'd have one over 488.

If I owned Talacrest, I could look like the Elephant Man and not GAF. Google them :)

I remember nipping there when working at heathrow, not far from the main Ferrari maranello place at Egham.

Both of which seemed surprisingly helpful considering I wasn’t in a position to buy and was just having a look st the time, F40 was about 150/200k iirc (talking 2001/2002)

That's the only McLaren I want.
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on
