If he can get the Pikey gobshite on the deck then he'll ruin him I reckon. The gobshite is a knockout puncher though so should be a very exciting fight. I may force myself to watch and cheer on the unpronounceable chap. 😁

Allowing some space for his posse to get in the cage and set about McGregor?

And he did. McGregor wasn't at the races I didn't think.

The shambles after was dreadful but amusing and all stemmed from McGregor pushing his pre-fight bad mouthing too far and tipping a respectful man over the edge. Some of the footage I saw after the fight showed McGregor twatting someone before a chap in a grey Tshirt belting him followed by the guy in the red top punching him twice in the head from behind.

All in all, I enjoyed the show!!

As my mate Steve said...

“Who’d‘ve thought McGreggor wasn’t the least classy man in the room”

Ah this was the professional cuddling competition followed by a side order of random twatting I was just watching?

The love-in before was better. They batted seven shades of crap out of one another, one of them had a bit of a cry and they went home happy.

I may watch this again.

I don't follow the "Sport" and for those that don't I was reading this in the Guardian this morning

"In the lead-up to the event, McGregor was at the forefront of the attack on the bus, played up the political tension between Chechnya and Dagestan, called Nurmagomedov’s father a “quivering coward” for associating with Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, and referred to Nurmagomedov’s manager as a “terrorist snitch”. He also called his opponent a “backwards cunt” when Nurmagomedov – a devout Muslim– refused to accept a glass of whiskey during a press conference. While none of this is an excuse for Nurmagomedov to attack McGregor and his team after the fight, it may explain why there was such venomous animosity between the two camps."

Not very civilised is it 😂

It's a "sport" based on two people beating each other senseless. Goes with the territory.

The end of the match was a shitshow. Anyone who can't take a bit of trash talking in the build up shouldn't be a part of the show imo, attacking someone in the crowd is ridiculous.

McGregor came out looking like the better man, which you can't say very often .

Mouthy, disrespectful wanker gets a beating. Lovely stuff 8-)

I get the trash talking to hype a fight but he just descends into vulgarity like nobody else ever has. Still, pays well.

When’s the lucrative rematch?

McGregor had signed a 6 fight deal with Dana White recently so he'll be getting well paid whomever he fights. The pre-fight trash talk was dreadful and I can see why Khabib was so upset plus whatever McGregor said to him in the ring at the end of round 3 that seemed to get him really revved up!

I was a fan of McGregor for a long time, pretty much up until he went awol from his UFC titles to go pretend to be a boxer.

He was always a mouthy fucker but he seems to have turned it to 11 recently. He knows that UFC need him more than he needs them and he's taking the piss.

Maybe the defeat will have knocked a bit of humility into him. Still don't think Khabib came out of it looking too good either though.

Classic quote from an Irish Paper...

“Watching the build-up to the main event, it doesn't take long to twig that this is essentially a sport aimed at dumbasses. Fair enough, the stupid need entertainment too, but there's not much in it for the rest of us. MMA is a sporting version of Love Island. With even tighter shorts. Just ridiculous.”

It’s fairly gladiatorial, but once you get into it, it can become quite technical. Those boring cuddles whilst rolling around on the floor are suddenly very much part of the fight
