Nah, I was being a cheeky little scamp! Not mine fortunately, but a fella on Twitter.

He used the offsite parking at LHR. He got a call to say they’d crashed it... how fucked off would you be!!

I was going to suggest it was maybe time to start looking at diesel golfs if you had written off another M3.

The follow on conversation on twitter was enlightening. So many people with similar stories from the same parking company.

It boggles my mind people are happy to let randoms drive their cars to parking, let alone something nice like my Skoda.

Still I suppose if someone else bent it you'd maybe rather they did it properly and you get another one than always wonder.

Yeh I saw this a couple of days ago on Twitter but didn't see the explanation that it had hit the back of a lorry - that definitely explains the mahoosive gash down the drivers door...

I must say though - there's absolutely NO chance I'd hand my keys over to a car park monkey at an airport unless I was just dumping a station car there.

I got done by this before - Not the write off bit - booked a park and stay at manchester Bewleys hotel at the airport. When we arrived i was told the car would be stored offsite. I wasnt happy but had no choice. the car came back fine though but it was the not particularly interesting Honda Accord Diesel i had at the time.

Can you link up the original Twitter post? I'd like to read that thread of similar stories.

I used to use them all the time (hey, it's not my car  etc) but on one trip to Germany, I got back late and was in a hurry so I just picked it up and left.

The seat had been adjusted - not just back and forth but up and down, the lumber supports adjusted. Then I noted the stereo had been changed to some random London "Grime" station. Then I noted some Maccy D's chips and a chocolate wrap[per in the passenger footwell. Not mine...

I had decide by the time I got home that it was obvious that,. while parked up, security guards or drivers were using it as a bit of a hangout. This was confirmed when I got home, had a decent look around and found the tell tale little plastic baggy, the torn up pieces of Rizzla, tobacco in the seat folds.

My car had been turned into a coffee shop while I was away...
