When I saw the thread title I knew exactly what it was going to refer to.

Gobsmacking. I never liked the P1; the UK alterations to the standard STI v5/6 weren’t as appealing as the original JDM model.

I know I'm being a simpleton here but what am I missing? I watched the whole vid and a price was never mentioned.

D'oh - so it is. I watched it on my phone in portrait so it didn't show. 50k is about right, isn't it? I thought it would be 6 figures as per every other car these days.

It doesn't sound unrealistic considering how rare they are, how many will have been destroyed etc. Look at the price Cossies change hands for these days.

There are loads on Auto Trader - there are a couple of 20k-ish mileage ones for just under £30k. I know this is one-owner, very low mileage but it's the sort of car you'd buy to drive, not to look at. And if you used it, it'd lose £20k fairly quickly.

22Bs are 6 figure territory now, aren't they?

Well, only if it's in front of a white background.

I could have had a 2 door STI Type RA last year for £5k.

Didnt realise he was selling until he sold it.

Yes, but they are genuinely special. Not a Japanese-spec car brought in and given an MG ZS bodykit.

I was never taken by the P1 either. Loved the 22B.

When I had my WRX fiddled with by Andy Forrest - some years ago now - he advised that he had two 22B's. One official UK car, and one import. Wonder if he held onto them.....?

The UK 22B was also fiddled with by Prodrive - I've just dug up the differences from the JDM model which are mostly pretty minor:

- Foglight
- 'Type UK' badge
- Longer final drive ratio (not an easy thing to alter on a JDM car)
- 1999 model year headlights; the 22B is a 1998 model year car but by the time the 16 were imported, grey importers had already used up the full allocation of SVAs for Imprezas so they had to be registered as 1999 cars. Hence the new headlights were fitted; it's an easy aftermarket mod to a JDM 22B though.

There are quite a few UK cars with AP twin-plate clutches too; that was an approved UK upgrade/replacement because the JDM Exedy clutches were famously juddery. Being able to get parts from a UK dealer easily is probably a bigger benefit; I believe you still have to prove you own a Type UK to get 22B-specific parts from a dealer.

+1

That car is no longer a ‘driver’s car’; it’s a museum piece.

I love P1 and always wanted one. I think it’s the prettiest classic Impreza. Shame about the prices but it was always going to be that way.

Same dealer selling a 10k mile, one-owner car at the same asking price: https://www.kgfclassiccars.co.uk/details.php?cid=874

Much more tempting!

I remember seeing a 22B parked in Manchester as a youth, I was very excited. I loved the P1 too but I was always more of an Evo man. Evo VII RS Sprint to be precise, entirely based on an evo review I decided that was the one to have. :D

The interior is incredibly close to grey slip-on shoe colour, but is somehow still quite nice :?:

That dealer has some incredibly low mileaged shit heaps. Does he go round local old peoples’ homes to find them?
How about not having a sig at all?
