None whatsoever. So long as you don’t bother reading the opening post at least.

Top edge is correct for iPhones as that's where the NFC antenna is and it'll work most reliably. Likewise on the terminal it'll be the contactless logo, usually on the top rather than the screen.

Android phones can be all over the place, although middle of the back is pretty common.

I really should set it up, as a back up, but I still carry my car. I know my daughter has set up her card on her phone, so may get her to assist me.
