Would you buy a Mat Armstrong car?

Post by Gavster »

Watching him sell the Revuelto gives me mixed feelings. I love his content but that Revuelto looks like a very expensive lemon.

So assuming that it was priced correctly, would you buy one of his cars?

I’d happily have a category car, but i think if i was paying lamborghini money I’d be buying a clean model, even if that meant a lesser model.

So, it depends.

I wouldn’t buy the Revuelto even if I won the Euromillions and had found some African Prince who gifted their estate to me.

Maybe his other stuff like the Murcialago although it looks pretty crusty underneath and how much cheaper is it or does he have enough fan boys now that the price will be the same as a clean title?
How about not having a sig at all?

Wouldn't touch it. He deliberately takes on these complicated repairs for views, not because he has experience of building/repairing cars other than previously on his channel. He doesn't know what he doesn't know.

Fair point there, you’d probably be buying a car that would be needing more fixes as they develop, probably without the manufacturers cooperation too.

and if you’ve got the expertise/enthusiasm/money to do that, then you might as well fix one up yourself!

They are often modified as well, usually with a stupid exhaust and different wheels, bodykits etc. I imagine an insurance nightmare.

I do HAHAHAHAHAHAHA really enjoy HAHAHAHAHA his videos though HAHAHAHAHAA. Mostly.
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.

There's also been a few instances recently in his videos where "oh this thing came loose even though we fixed it" and they have a workshop rule about never walking away from a part if any of the fixings are only partially done. You only create rules like that if it's genuinely been an big issue in the past

I like the bloke but he has some awful aesthetic taste sometimes. Questionable bits of bodykit, weird colour choices and non-standard wheels. I suppose ‘aspirational chav’ is his target audience though.

For the money I’d rather buy something lesser but unmodified and straight. Quite a collection he’s amassed though!

I've seen parts of his videos, but I've never really felt the urge to watch a whole build series start-to-finish.

Nope.

I’d buy a damaged car to repair myself, but not sure I’d trust one someone else has done.

At least what he’s repaired is usually well documented which is an advantage over others!

All of this although I still wouldn't buy a car off him.

I appreciate some of the bodges like rivets, cable ties or just reusing bolts that should be replaced are due to time restraints as a result of filming but they are still there in later videos :D

Actually, I'm unsure that I'd buy a crash repaired car off anyone unless I'd overseen the repair work
