2024 Manuel/Auto pole

Post by mik »

As per Bob Dylan, the times they are a-changin', as are the technologies and capabilities of automatificated systems, and - many times - any ability to choose.

So where are the feels in (only just) 2024?

Note1: please discount your daily driver if appropriate - this poll is intended to focus on the car you either own or currently lust after as a driving-focussed or track-focussed veehickle.

Note2: "Manuel" covers conventional manual boxes with a clutch, and sequential manual boxes with a clutch to start you off at least. "Auto" is anything else, including flappy-paddle automated manuals with only two peddelos.

Note3: Your driving-focussed road car may also be your track car.

Manuel all the way for me please. If I was trying to go as fast as possible then auto would be more valid, but I ain't no racing driver.

I only have room for 1 car now with both the kids driving and my wife's car on drive so have an auto but find myself driving using the tip lever (rather than paddles) when driving in a spirited manner.

This works for me but probably means I want a manual! :D

Fun road car: MX5, manual all the way.
Track car: if I went for a Caterham, auto isn’t an option. If I went for a GT3, I’d have PDK. So auto.

Why is there no dual clutch or pdk option? Rubbish poll

Single speed for my daily (also not in poll Mik!) and pdk for track :D

The sucking donkeys dicks poll was actually a competition. Which you won.

No option for outdated automated manual from the late 1990s/early 2000s either

i don’t get “my” option, but i’ve selected it!

i haven’t ever owned an auto, but the 2nd car i drove regularly (mums 1995 Renault 19 1.4 with a 3 speed box) was so slow it was painful!

As per dvla rules, two pedal = auto, 3 pedal = manual

Traditional Auto for any car NOT on track. Flappy paddle for any track car.

So Auto for both.

After 10+ years driving only Auto's, I drove two manual cars this year and that was enough. No interest in a clutch any more...

I picked "why" purely because it's not a big enough factor to dictate what car I'd buy if other aspects were good enough.

What's the aspect ratios? And the rim diameter? Details required. (Manufacture date optional)
why?

What about the Mercs with a foot operated "hand"brake? My dad's W124 had three pedals, but was definitely an auto.

I’ve gone for the last option because all the other options are shit.

Depends on the car for me.
How about not having a sig at all?
