For our garage, 2015 turned out to be a very good year. It was in 2015 that both our Ferrari F12 & McLaren 650S Spider were built. The F12 we have had for about 9 months now and the 650S Spider for 9 years. Here's a few thoughts on the pair:

2015 Was A Good Year: McLaren 650S Spider & Ferrari F12
Re: 2015 Was A Good Year: McLaren 650S Spider & Ferrari F12
Finally got round to looking at this:
1. From memory, I think you previously expressed a general preference for mid-engine over front engine layouts (?) Not that it really matters when you can run both simultaneously, but is there anything specific in the F12's handling that endears you to it?
2. In the "McLaren 650S Spider" section you note it's 3.8l displacement. In "The Pair" you (incorrectly) reference it's 4.0 displacement.
3. Interesting that you note the steering on the 650. I've only driven one McLaren for limited miles only (Pete RevsRUs's 600LT) but the steering feel/weight was an immediate stand-out element.

Harry Metcalfe's update video yesterday on his 650S Spider is so enthusiastic, it almost got me looking at the classifieds. And he's right about the looks; the front does indeed look better than the 720S/750S. I finally think I'm starting to get it and work out the differences between different models of McLaren.

Quite an array – two dream cars of the same year! Somehow, the F12 should feel like a rocket even today and the 650S Spider has only got better with time. In what way does this differ? Is one more pleasing than the other for certain type of drives?
