In this recent video Jobber explained two things, firstly how you could, in fact, claim on your comprehensive policy for driving through flood water, although it depends on how you argue the case.
The second point isn't a surprise, but it's the first time I've heard it from someone who actually works in insurance. He mentions at the end of the video that insurers have software which is checking social media for registration plates, which I assume would be used in this instance to disprove any 'accidental' claims for flood damage:
Insurers scraping social media for registration plates
Re: Insurers scraping social media for registration plates
Two things:
1. It’s not me (for those who don’t know me in person and therefore don’t know what I look like).
2. He is incredibly irritating and points out the obvious in the videos I’ve seen.
I’m not saying he’s necessarily wrong because I’ve not watched enough of his stuff to check. But it’s trite and basic stuff. He’s presumably trying to milk the same market as similarly irritating (and definitely wrong in at least one example I’ve seen) Black Belt Barrister.
Sorry, just to add a response to the actual topic: yes, it’s hardly surprising that insurers google your registration. It’s not hard to do. But simply featuring in a video of Rufford Ford doesn’t automatically mean your claim will be denied. Matt drove deliberately into floodwater in his 147 GTA and his claim was paid.

Re: Insurers scraping social media for registration plates
Often wondered what happens if you’re making your way safely through a flood with no issues and a car coming the other way causes a large bow wave which swamps your engine.
Would you be able to claim against the other cars insurers for damaging your vehicle? I would assume you could, but without a dashcam I expect you’d struggle to prove it.

I mean, he's claiming "Back in the day" of it being an automatic reject, but myself and other 147GTA owners (yes, it was a common thing, not just me being an idiot) everyone got paid out without any questions or arguements at all.Gavster wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 10:47 am In this recent video Jobber explained two things, firstly how you could, in fact, claim on your comprehensive policy for driving through flood water, although it depends on how you argue the case.
