Speedy deliveries

Last night at 9:23pm I ordered my niece's birthday present from Amazon. As it was more than £20, I'm a Prime member and the timings worked out for us I chose the free 'pre 1pm' delivery slot.

When I woke up this morning I got the notification it was 8 stops away. Then at 7:24, just 10 hours and 1 minute after ordering, it arrived. Don't think I remember anything arriving in such a short time scale.

Amazon offer same-day delivery in some places - have done for a few years.

@Simon that is fiendishly quick, my Amazon deliveries are never before lunchtime!

I get Amazon same-day on certain items and it's horrendously unreliable. I could order now and it will say "Delivery by 10pm today", yet there's only a 50% chance that will happen and I'll be stuck waiting in the house all afternoon and evening in case it does arrive. Also they don't offer delivery to an Amazon counter on the same-day service, so I can't direct it to the corner shop, where all of my Amazon packages go normally.

@Jobbo, yes, naturally you're correct, and I've used it before, but this is the first time somethings arrived so quickly when I haven't said 'get it to me ASAP'. Normally pre-1pm usually means around lunchtime for my deliveries, and like @Gavster same day can be really unreliable, usually leaving it right till the last minute to get here, if at all.

Was just surprising, that's all.

Just had an Amazon delivery. Two separate items - cat flap and some light bulbs. Ordered at 9.52am this morning. I’m surprised because I didn’t specify any particular delivery type so it was the usual free delivery.

I’ve noticed that Prime vans in general look like they’ve been through the wars. The other couriers are no where near as bad!
