Watched this earlier and very impressive. Engine makes as much power as the original Veyron but without the 4 turbos!

When I saw the Youtube videos appear and read the name, I genuinely assumed they had launched a watch. Really not a very exciting update to the Chiron's design; it could in fact be a GTA version of a Chiron.

V16 as opposed to W16 though - well that goes some way to justifying the price but does seem a compromise. The car has to be longer to accommodate it and the crankshaft will be long and thus needs to be beefed up a lot to stop it being twisty and bendy.

It has a very long nose. Surprising how much the steering wheel is getting talked about online when it’s just like an old Citroen

Aye, the W16 was interesting because it was big displacement and power in a relatively compact package.

A mid mounted V16 just seems like too many compromises tbh. It’s not like it’s making tonnes more power than you could reliably get out of a smaller engine.

Saying that, in the front of a new Bugatti limo would be pretty cool.

Having watched it all now I'm excited for it. v16 is NASP, revving higher than a GT3. Useful electric, whilst still being no heavier than the Chiron is great. Lots of useful design details too. I think Mate's done well.

First thing I thought was "which long nosed dog does this remind me of", then, who came up with that name. But it's on-brand for Bugatti I guess.

Looks interesting and it's great they keep on evolving it.
Cheers,

Mike.

I think it looks great. All in favour of the V16 N/A - it didn't sound especially great from the audio clip though...

All I wonder is that those combined total figures with the batteries - how long do you really get that for? Its not like the turbo engine where you get a true 1600hp all day long.

I guess for everyday driving it would be fine - try and set ring times with it and I image perhaps not - then again would only need to cope with 7 minutes of deployment.

Styling isn't horrible, but massively powerful 2-tonne hypercar.... Not doing a huge amount for me.

1m crank vs approx 0.6m in the W16 of earlier cars. A stat to impress the ladies.

Hate the way the speedo and rev counter mimic a clock dial, but accept that a rev counter is less important when the box is shifting for you.

I see it's already being referred to as The Toblerone.

Yeah the instruments look nice like a fancy watch but utterly shit from a functionality perspective. Guess that’s why the only digital display in the whole car displays the speed.

Tourbillon is a crap name though I must admit.

Particularly as Tourbillons are pointless outside of pocket watches which spend their lives hanging still in a single axis. An extravagant irrelevance... oh wait maybe that's why they chose the name

Naturally aspirated V16 gets my vote

PS any excuse to post this. I was there, it does sound rather nice

V16 engines in medium speed works are beautifully balanced so I’d expect the extra firing moments make this a particularly smooth engine.

Sounds great, a needless engineering challenge “just because” and chasing for a redline, brilliant. This is my favourite Bugatti yet.

Cosworth has been busy (even if it's just four fours stuck together).

Doesn’t seem to come off “soft limiter” until 100kmph

That does nothing for me, doesn't even tease for seeing the real thing in motion. Meh.
Electric launch 'til 100kph?

Its a fantastic sounding thing. Overtones of 12 and 10 in there as well.

It also sounds a little like synthesised version of engines you get in games weirdly.

I think that's just the most effective launch strategy for the electricbrain to execute. I still hate the dials, but I can't argue with the way it gathers speed. And it sounds great. I don't want a 2-tonne hypercar though, so I haven't placed an order.

Makes it nice and easy for the police, though - if they hear a gearchange, they can just take their license off them on the spot
