How many red flags in one advert
I've been seeing loads of ads like this recently.

How many red flags for it being a scam can you spot? I've got 7 so far.

He must have a big garage and some serious family problems, he's got about 30 suspiciously cheap cars listed!
Re: How many red flags in one advert
All the ads start with family problems
How about not having a sig at all?

He’s selling it for family problems.. does he take your problems in exchange for the car? Do you get a discount if you give him more problems or less?
Cheers,

The interior contains literal red flags draped across the passenger seats.

Have some respect Rich, his uncle who recently died was the UKs pre eminent 2015 hatchback collector.
An absolute unit

He keeps his tipper lorry in the garage which means it's bound to be in perfect condition. I guess if it's in Cheltenham and he lives in Kerala then he probably doesn't use it much.Rich B wrote: Mon Nov 06, 2023 11:15 pm He must have a big garage and some serious family problems, he's got about 30 suspiciously cheap cars listed!
Oh, and he has 135 vehicles listed for sale at the moment. Wonder if he's adding more constantly?

Maybe the problem is that the family keep buying cars?Jobbo wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 9:24 am Oh, and he has 135 vehicles listed for sale at the moment. Wonder if he's adding more constantly?

Re: How many red flags in one advert
Facebook is absolutely full of these scammers. Surely it wouldn't be too hard for Facebook to automatically block any account that suddenly lists, say five or more cars in quick succession ? And then only unblock if there's a sensible complaint filed. I'm assuming a scammer wouldn't bother.
Re: How many red flags in one advert
So how does this scam work? I thought the too good to be true cheap cars method was you went to visit the owner/car and some travellers would jump out and rob you.
Presumably this chap just asks for a deposit you won’t see back?

Yeah, get a deposit, delete the ad and move on to the next mug.Mito Man wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:55 am So how does this scam work? I thought the too good to be true cheap cars method was you went to visit the owner/car and some travellers would jump out and rob you.

@Gavster I hope you send him the "after losing everything I got help from Mr Dr Xxxx whose voodoo spells ,,,," reply, ask if you can pay by Western Union and send an agent, etc.
Re: How many red flags in one advert
They’ll ask for it by PayPal friends and family too. Absolute protection that wayZedLeg wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 11:01 amYeah, get a deposit, delete the ad and move on to the next mug.Mito Man wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:55 am So how does this scam work?
