A message from jamcg’s scout group

Post by jamcg »

Lifted from our scout Facebook page:

Hi everyone,

We're reaching out today with a concerning situation that our Scout Group has been facing. For nearly a month now, our bank, Barclays, has blocked access to our account, and it's been a challenging journey to say the least.

We've gone through the proper channels, provided all the necessary documentation, and even received acknowledgment from Barclays that there's no issue with our account. However, despite their assurance, we're still unable to access our funds.

What's even more disheartening is the poor customer service we've encountered during this time. We've reached out to the bank multiple times including in person at our local branch, but the responses have been slow and unhelpful. Our dedicated volunteers, who selflessly contribute their time and effort to keep our scout group running smoothly, are now bearing the financial burden themselves. They've been dipping into their own pockets to cover essential bills just to ensure that our group continues to function and provide great facilities and activities to local children.

We take our responsibility towards the children in our community very seriously. It's disheartening to see that despite our efforts, we're struggling to provide the quality experiences and activities that they deserve. The ongoing cost of living crisis has only exacerbated the situation, and it's becoming increasingly challenging to manage.

We're sharing this not to complain, but to rally support from our wonderful community. If you have any contacts within Barclays or insights on how we can escalate this matter, your assistance would be invaluable.

We're not asking for donations, we just need help to access the funds we have in the account.

Thanks for your help.

It's a pain in the arse for the bank and they can't fob off the ombudsman like they're doing to you.

Also, media pressure in the local paper or emailing the chairman of the bank directly.

That whole situation does not sound like “a good customer outcome” so yeah, the FCA will be totally on your side on this one
