I just came on to link to that.
I love this line in the auction listing.

I'd have found some way to get Steve to say Ducati, though. The Pollitt wrote:This second-generation body is longer than the first, and as such, boasts impressive rear load space in which you could fit all kinds of things, like a small aircraft, or a limousine, or Hull.

Hope that goes to someone who continues in the right spirit and keeps it running, such an iconic car!
Re: For Sale: The Beast
Bidding starts in a couple of hours…..
So what do we think it’ll reach?
On the basis that it is of interest only to people as eccentric as John Dodds, and not the majority of the hoi -polloi I’m going to suggest it’ll make £87k in a battle-of-the-geeks.
If people like Jay Leno get involved it’s likely to go higher…
PLACE YOUR BETS HERE
Closest bet wins a signed photo of beany, with a Superdrug lipstick imprint from his own fair lips. Furthest away bet wins two of these.

I reckon 40k, I'm not sure it will have that many people wanting it.
Re: For Sale: The Beast

I'll stick with that but since noticed the engines alone seem to be worth more lol

All the talk of how powerful it is and how fast it is, but no footage of it anywhere doing any more than 20mph chugging along billowing smoke.
Cheers, Harry
Re: For Sale: The Beast
That depends on whether it is a Merlin or a Meteor, there's been some debate about that.Carlos wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 12:48 pm £25k.

Did look better with the original RR Grille.

75K by someone who has got the online auction fever and can't help themselves but keep bidding as they don't think its real money.
Cheers,
Mike.

You wouldn't describe it as blistering.....integrale_evo wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 1:25 pm All the talk of how powerful it is and how fast it is, but no footage of it anywhere doing any more than 20mph chugging along billowing smoke.

Max rpm is somewhere around 2600rpm. They aren't musical without the 'charger of the Merlin engine providing some treble.

I'll be honest, I didn't bother reading your post properly and got caught up in the auction excitement.
Much like I did at Christmas when I found myself slightly out of sorts on a cocktail of strong painkillers and whisky sours which lead me to an online bidding war with unknown persons for a vintage stuffed monkey.
I will not be taking any further questions.
Cheers,
Mike.
