Solar Flares

Post by mik »

Can’t be arsed posting a link - Google will bring you more up-to-date info.

We’re probably about to
A. Best case - Enjoy some cool aurora activity 8-)
B. Worst case - Have our phones and wireless and TV networks disabled for days and all our hard-discs wiped :geek:

.... due to some imminent intense solar flare activity.

(Actually worst worst case is that this turns out to be a cunning cover for the Thrangor race to invade earth under the cover of a solar flare, kill all the women and children and keep all the men alive for perpetuity with their limbs removed and each one popped onto a 30cm spike up the bottom. Hanging over a fire. With acid coming off it. And no phone. And every day you are forced to…. well anyway :? )

Will wrapping all my electronic items in tin foil help?
How about not having a sig at all?

“I thought,” he said, “that if the world was going to end we were meant to lie down or put a paper bag over our head or something.”

“If you like, yes,” said Ford.

“Will that help?” asked the barman.

“No,” said Ford and gave him a friendly smile.

We went to see Professor Brian Cox's latest show at the Playhouse last night.

Really enjoyable, but.... 🤯
Cheers,

Mike.

It was brilliant - audio and video was top notch, but as we expected, a lot of the actual science of black holes and space time only made sense in short bursts. He'd explain something which in isolation made sense, but then in the next sentence say something which just made my brain melt.

Its been some journey for him, he was saying he'd always wanted to take his show to the Playhouse as he played in a band there (Dare?) back in 1986 supporting Jimmy Page.
Cheers,

Mike.

Was Robin Ince there ruining all the interesting stuff by trying to be funny? He really got on my nerves when I went to see Brian Cox. Took the edge off what was an interesting and enjoyable evening.

He sure was... and it was very jarring.

The first two Dare albums that he played on were great.

My favourite book(s) of all time.
I think I've only ever read them once but the radio show recordings dozens of times.

Autographed books deeply deeply cool.

I tried watching the Brian Cox "universe" or whatever it was series and thought it was woeful and switched off after fifteen minutes.
