It’s nearly 400bhp.

If you round to the nearest 400.

Give that man a coconut (or revels)!

It sounds far more exciting as a spec list than the reality!

P290 Disco sport with adaptive suspension. Depending on the microchip shortage, it’ll turn up in September.

Nothing else suits our family needs better. I don’t understand why they treated it as a 290 when it’s a 300 in everything else. It seems to have 289-300ps depending on model, but I’m sure it’s identical other than exhaust routing.

As the ‘sporty’ model, it gets a different drivetrain setup to the rest of the range.

The current one is worth about £6k more than the final payment, and the garage have guaranteed £3k whenever it arrives, so I’ll move it on at the end of July and hopefully split the difference.

I remember watching Henry Catchpole's videos of the pre-facelift version. They're really rather nice cars. When I googled I could only find the P300e, which has 305bhp (1.5 petrol plus electric motor), so I wasn't sure if it was still made with the proper P300 engine.

They launched it about six months after the 'new' model, without telling anyone, while VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda have made a big deal about their sporty 300hp medium size SUVs.
Our current one was significanlty better than the competition as a vehicle that you could enjoy driving, and I doubt anything has changed that. It has the battery/motor assistance when pulling away now, and can switch the engine off below 15mph when slowing down.
Landrover changed something like 70% of the drivetrain and subframes on the 2020 facelift, but none of the body panels, which is pretty much the opposite of what most manufacturers do for completely new models!

I think he might have been thinking of the 9-3 Turbo-X.

Not sure about the Torque vectoring but it does have:

280bhp
AWD
Active Rear Diff

So does tick the boxes.

However for a serial LR addict it's unlikely LOL!

In my sugar slump after lunch I read the reveal, that post and then responded without it even registering the timing or running order! That's bad

I did try not to buy the same car again, but it is the only moderately powerful 7 seater petrol vehicle without tinted windows (I don’t really like them, and they make my daughter feel car sick) available.

Alternatives are -
Range Rover Sport (new out of budget, used nearly all have tints or no seven seats)
X5 (new out of budget for the spec that we’d want, used either have tints or no seven seats)
XC90 3.2 or V8 (old and knackered now, and I used to run them as company cars when I worked at Volvo)

No judgment, if it works for you keep going. I just noticed you might like landrovers a bit :)
