New Car Day...

Post by Matty »

The reason for not saying what this was earlier was entirely due to the fact I didn't think it would happen. But long story, here it is!

2017 Alfa 4C in Rosso Red and Tan leather - newer lights, optional carbon pack (mirrors, intake), optional leather dash with tan stitching, the essential alloys, race exhaust (but not the back-breaking race suspension) and various other bits. Also has the Alfawork geometry tweaks to calm things down a little .

Impressions are - it's more refined than an S2 Elise, but less so than the Evora. It's bloody quick. Steering is not a patch on Lotus. Gearbox has the attention of a 2 year old, so needs to be left in manual, but is otherwise quick to change. Very little difference in the DNA settings. Visibility is great ahead, but nothing behind. The carbon tub looks FG 8-) 8-) and feels properly special to sit and be in. It's fkcing loud too.

Still getting used to it, but while it doesn't come close the Elise/Evora in terms of handling/feel, it really feels like a proper event to drive and covers ground at a tremendous pace. Unsuprisingly it generates massive amounts of attention....but is well recieved and I was let out of all junctions with gusto.

Shitty pictures as I've done some serious mileage and was too tired to make the effort

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in the flesh, very rare thing on the roads.

Looks absolutely awesome.

What a stunner. Congrats!

Interesting to hear your views on the handling; that seems to tally with what I remember about the reviews. Why the change?

Woah - did not expect!

I have seen two - one going in the other direction up North and we were both travelling at speed, but it looked way better than pics I had seen.

Saw another in Italy - interesting cars.

Congrats. 8-)

Love the adventurous choice! How does the carbon tub feel compared to the lotus tub? Any distinction? And what tweaks are made with the geometry pack do you know? If I remember right tram-lining was mentioned a lot in reviews at the time, has this been banished?

This is one of those cars where all I see on the internet are negative opinions but I’d have one in a heartbeat. Congrats!

Very tasty! I'd like to know more about the geo changes you can make too, seems mad that you can't sort most of its vagaries.

Congrats Matt - I had in mind it was going to be a Lexus LC500 but this is even more special! Lovely car, totally see why you’d have one.
