Another new car fred
Another new car fred
The M140i goes back in September so it's time to order something new and a little more BIK friendly.
I've really enjoyed the 1 series. It's a super little car and rather nippy. Just driven up to Edinburgh this evening via the A68 and given it a sound thrashing. Love it!
Anyhow. What is coming next??

Re: Another new car fred
545e?
Re: Another new car fred
Is the only correct answer for BIK.
Re: Another new car fred
Doesn't McSwede do a millionty miles a year? Full EV would suck as he'd have to stop to charge it multiple times a day.
How about not having a sig at all?

I was about to say the same. Perhaps a hybrid of sorts. 545e has already been suggested, Lexus or Merc?Mito Man wrote: Tue Apr 27, 2021 12:10 am Doesn't McSwede do a millionty miles a year? Full EV would suck as he'd have to stop to charge it multiple times a day.

Re: Another new car fred
Can you choose anything or do you get a list?
Re: Another new car fred
We used to chose what we wanted so long as it was within a certain budget but parent company sets to list now so things are a little less interesting sadly.
Mito was correct though and full electric cars are not an option for me yet.
545e would have been ace but they won't stretch to that
I'll be ordering a 330e MSport in sapphire black with mocha leather. I'll be over £300 per month better off with BIK which will be nice!
Re: Another new car fred
£300 p/m will certainly help soften the disappointment in the performance drop.
Is there a sneaky stealthy remap opportunity? ( I have absolutely no idea what powerplant is fitted to a 330e and can’t be arsed going to look)

2l 4pot turbo isn’t it?mik wrote: Tue Apr 27, 2021 7:53 am £300 p/m will certainly help soften the disappointment in the performance drop.

System output of nearly 300bhp I think using a 2l and the electric motor.

Aye. 2l four banger with some electricity. It'll go OK until it runs out of electric then it's 190hp dragging some heavy tech around. It's a legit tax avoidance scheme and that's the top and bottom of it. Plus it fits with a modern company approach to corporate social responsibility.Simon wrote: Tue Apr 27, 2021 8:23 am System output of nearly 300bhp I think using a 2l and the electric motor.
My main concern is the 40l petrol tank. I'll be at the petrol station more than I am now
This gen 3 series is nice though. Feels much more like a 5. Sure it isn't much smaller that my old F11. It's no Stagea though
Re: Another new car fred
Remap it and 400hp overall is apparently a thing.Simon wrote: Tue Apr 27, 2021 8:23 am System output of nearly 300bhp I think using a 2l and the electric motor.
Re: Another new car fred
I guessed as much, but it's interesting to see what the modern lumps are capable of.
340-ishhp from a 2 litre on standard internals with just a flash is pretty impressive.

Friend of mine has just got a 320d MSport as a company car. He ordered one option which tipped it over £40k list price. Because it has ‘mild hybrid’ in its description it was sanctioned, but it shouldn’t qualify under his scheme
Think he’ll get a bit of a company car tax shock compared to a 330e though.

I'm trying to convince them about the Harmon Kardon but feel that I'll probably lose that argument
