WhatsApp tinfoil hats

A couple of people I know are moving from WhatsApp to Signal as apparently now WhatsApp isn’t encrypted.

Now from what I can see that’s all pish posh, it’s still encrypted and as everything monitors us in some shape or form I fail to see how any message apps are much different.

So is this a good cull for the tinfoil hat brigade or do WhatsApp really want to know the pet name I give my wife in messages :lol:

A lot more to it than that although people are reading more in to it than is there.

Based on this article it sounds like as I'm already part of the Facebook system it will make very little different to my data security (or to anyone else with a FB / IG account). I just hope they don't start messing around with the interface and adding 'stories' and other crap into it.
