That definitely makes more sense than it's the denotation that all electronic systems use and isn't affected by seasonal changes etcSundayjumper wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:25 amProbably racist or something. No. We are currently at GMT+1 in the UK as we are in British Peanut Butter Jelly Ti... sorry - British Summer Time.
I'd be happier if the UK stayed at GMT+1 - I don't like that foreign UTC muck...RobYob wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 10:29 am Honestly I'd be happy if UK stayed at UTC+1, I hate it when the clocks change.
I did some as well and it just didn't make any proper sense. GMT is both a time zone and also immovable, so technically does the same job as UTC. I was going to blame the French at first as I assumed it was the usual when it comes to measurements of anything in that they'd want it to be non-English. But there's nothing in that. It just seems to be something that happened without any truly tangible reason.ZedLeg wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:50 am I did a bit of reading as I was curious and apparently the difference is that GMT is a time zone and UTC is a time standard. Functionally they're the same and GMT is generally accepted as a synonym for UTC.
The more you know.

I always thought BST was British Standard Time, but apparently you are correct.

Oh, crap
Thank you and everyone. It feels weird, I'm not freaking out yet... Perhaps I should be. The world and the automotive world is in a deeply weird place at the moment and I've got to find somewhere to fit in again.mik wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:10 am +1![]()
RobYob as leader of the OV9 party will get my vote at the upcoming election though.
