Meh, just do it properly and fit some CLs

4 hours labour to remove the decat downpipe and refit the cat. Verdict: car is quieter, for sure, but seems no slower.

One Megane decat pipe for sale. Will suit someone who can do the work themselves and has a friendly local MOT place.

Its a tempting sales pitch Jon.

Clearly very similar cars (not), but when my E46 Compact failed on brake imbalance, new calipers, discs & pads did not solve it. New hoses did the trick in the end.

Yeah that seems to be the consensus on the loltus forum. Not much more expensive than the 1144's anyway so im going to order the CL5's.

Had braided hoses fitted recently - theres an invoice for them. its only done 7000 miles since then.

CL RC5s are awesome. RC6 even more so.

I had a few callipers on mine, they seemed to get sticky and new ones went on to sort. But with good working callipers, EP alu-belled discs, CL pads, braided hoses and Superblue (that isn't blue anymore) the brakes were utterly fantastic.

RBF 660 is a good value fluid, SRF if you want the best

RC5's ordered. Its got Type 200 fluid in it. running Pagid discs atm. The EP bells look good to replace them next though.

660 is indeed good stuff - ive got that in the Golf.

Took the Mondeo to KwikFit today on a whim, while I was local to it. Got the aircon checked and topped up, given that it wasn't working before, and if there was a ruddy big cheesegrater where the condenser should be - as there was on the Puma - then it'd be no charge to find out.

Of course, the aircon works perfectly - holds a vacuum, no problems found, just needed regassing. So evacuated and topped up.

Working air conditioning, in this weather, is a fucking revelation given that no car I've driven to any extensive degree has had working aircon.

I only really take the 968 for drives in the evening when there's hot weather.... In direct sunlight, the interior can get upto 40- 45c, when it's 25-30c outside.

Which is why the M3 had to have AC when I was looking for one.

Yeah, I'd got used to global-opening the car from the office window before I headed downstairs, because otherwise, you open the door, get assaulted by hot air, then sit down and immediately regret most of you life choices.

Anyway, is now a bad time to mention that the 2.5 turbo Focos STs would be something I could look at?

As for aircon, I agree. It never really used to bother me, but as I get older and fatter I find it harder to deal with the heat, it was one of several reasons why I decided bin the old compact and the new one had to have aircon.
