When my Mrs lost hers I just went to a slightly shadier "cash only" type garage in Slough rather than a Kwikfit. They sorted it.
That’s kind of what I was thinking.....integrale_evo wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:44 pm Tbh I’d have thought it was quite common for tyre fitters to get cars with missing or broken locking but keys and would come equipped with tools to remove them.
But maybe that’s just me having some common sense and the real world might be very different![]()

FSH, the previous owner had been getting rinsed by Jag main dealer services (including paying £1500 last year for cambelt and the works!). Only advisory on MOT was a brake pipe I think. 120,000 miles is the fly in the ointment but I’m taking the risk as it looks well looked after... pick up Friday!

Yip, Porsche can do it but not until next Friday and its a minimum charge of an hour’s labour. Which is fine, I’ll get the garage to pay that.Sundayjumper wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 2:28 pm What type of locking nut is it ? If it's the Porsche one surely a Porsche dealer can get you the right one if you take the car down there and show them ?
I've done that with both Porsche & BMW in the past. Errr... for a friend I mean. Not for my own cars.
Whaaaaaaattt ? Robbing gits ! When "my friend" had the same problem, they got a bloke out from the workshop with a master set of keys, figured out which one I needed, job done. That is not an hour's work !!Ascender wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 2:31 pm Yip, Porsche can do it but not until next Friday and its a minimum charge of an hour’s labour.
I couldn't say which is better, really - mine has done 11,000 miles so far without any cost except a new rear wiper blade though. Based on the minimal tyre wear over the first 10k miles I would say a high miler which has sat on the motorway is a great buy, except they aren't that much cheaper.JonMad wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:27 am Great. Does yours have the 9 speed box or the 7?Jobbo wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 2:47 pmI couldn't say which is better, really - mine has done 11,000 miles so far without any cost except a new rear wiper blade though. I’ve just asked them about that and am waiting to hear.... I’ve got a set of replacement non-locking bolts here so it should just be 10 minutes as I know the master set will work.Sundayjumper wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 2:41 pmWhaaaaaaattt ? Robbing gits ! They did this with my wife’s TT, very reasonable and he even found an incomplete kit and gave us the key for free.Ascender wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:28 pmI’ve just asked them about that and am waiting to hear.... All other options tried so far have been as much use a chocolate dildo unfortunately.
No luck, Porsche Edinburgh are too busy to undo the four bolts, so would need to be booked in for an hour minimum in a week+.V8Granite wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:31 pmThey did this with my wife’s TT, very reasonable and he even found an incomplete kit and gave us the key for free.Ascender wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:28 pmI’ve just asked them about that and am waiting to hear.... Dave!
Mine is the pre-facelift so 7-sp box, no Adblue (does have space saver spare wheel instead) and slightly more power (265bhp plays 248bhp). It is nicely effortless, doesn't feel overpowered for the chassis like the C350 CDI did but it's very Merc in that it has a long, stiff accelerator pedal so you won't accidentally put your foot down hard. It's a conscious flex.JonMad wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:02 pmDoes yours have the 9 speed box or the 7?Jobbo wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 2:47 pmI couldn't say which is better, really - mine has done 11,000 miles so far without any cost except a new rear wiper blade though. I assume the performance is always acceptably rapid with a flex of your right foot?
STATION GARAGE, MILNTHORPE - they'll sort it.Ascender wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 5:43 pm Gator grip socket thing has failed as has another couple of sockets. So I’ll just have to plead ignorance with Kwik Fit tomorrow and see what they can do.
