I had both last week, felt a bit grotty for an afternoon but fine the next day. My gf had Covid a couple of weeks ago and it really knocked her for six.

I want to get them too, but also hearing people feeling rough afterwards and really don’t want any more downtime. I had a week ill in early Sept, then a holiday, then another little virus so basically feel like I’ve barely done any work for a month lol.
I think you’ll have less downtime from the vaccine than catching it. But yes, it feels a bit counter-productive to give yourself mild COVID and a dead arm

I realise it's upside-down thinking

I will get it though

There appears to be a particularly nasty strain doing the rounds up here. Mini Nef had it for 5 weeks, and Mrs Nef is only just recovering half way through week 7
Somehow I seem to have got away with it, maybe due to the one I had back in April/May (similar symptom profile).
But Mrs Nef has been *bad*. Total upper respiratory congestion and such a swollen throat that she's verged on suffocation on several occasions. Being woken up in the night to see her flapping and gasping like a beached fish was a pretty terrifying experience.

I had it recently, only for about a week but it felt worse than the first time I had it and my energy levels still aren’t what they were before.

Jesus guys, hope you and yours are all making a good recovery, that sounds scary too
@Nefarious
It seems like adding corona onto the already sizeable pile of seasonal viruses is part of the reason why so many more people are randomly feeling ill for half the winter. Another reason to get out of the city...

Out of interest, what do you all do with regards to work when you're ill? I get the sense there are way more people working when ill post-pandemic because it's easier to log on and work, even when feeling a bit rough, when people are WFH. Not gonna spread to a whole office.

Depends.
If I'm physically buggered but mentally OK, I'll tend to work through it, at a slightly slower pace.
If my head is a shed, I'll completely disconnect - because that's the sort of thing that causes you to nuke the production server instead of the test server in error, etc. Better for some jobs to slip than to cause a major systems failure because you weren't fully with it.

first day or two I took off as sick leave as I was just exhausted and couldn't really focus or concentrate.
By day 3 I was bored out of my mind so I went back to work from home. By the Sunday I was testing negative so went back into the office the following Tuesday

As an employer, I send people home immediately because they can work from home - if they can't work due to illness, not a problem but I'm not going to have them infecting others.

When I was wfh I took two days off then went back to work.
This time I just took the whole week I isolated off.
Not enjoying the amount of people who come into the office sick tbh.

Ahhh yeah that old chestnut. My old business partner had a habit of pushing hard to work when he was ill. And every time he'd make a big cock-up during one of the jobs.
