I've now done over 300 miles of which only about 19 were with the top up. I don't think my wife is likely to drive it much (or at all) - she professed a dislike for getting in and out and said she preferred SUVs.

Some things I have discovered since getting it:
- The BBS alloys are required to clear the Brembo brake calipers, and clearance really limits which alloys you can fit. I doubt I'll need a second pair of alloys but basically none of the standard ND model MX5 alloys fit; the 124 Abarth alloys do fit but are much heavier. There are plenty of aftermarket wheels available but generally require spacers to clear the brakes and don't actually look better than the BBSs. Mazda charge the best part of a grand per wheel for replacements for the BBSs because they're forged. Oh well, seems like I have ended up with the best wheel option for my car by default

It's also lovely to feel the lightness; even not using full throttle or more than 5000rpm, it zipped up the hill on the A449 past Hindlip in a totally different way to my S6 which steamrollers it in comparison. It's certainly a nippy little thing; with low expectations for performance it exceeds them pleasingly.

Mrs mik has driven the Evora twice in the 8 years I've owned it. Once to try it out for about 4 minutes, and the next time when it was absolutely necessary. If she drove it more regularly, I'd almost certainly have gone through several different wheel shades by now after they'd been refurbed due to kerbing......

Ania won't drive the M2 because she knows she'll kerb the alloys. It's kind of annoying, because I can't take her car when I want to go mountain biking for the day, but also, I do like my alloys chip free...

Overall, I don't think we should be complaining too much about this

S Jobson spotted.

I noticed the MX5 parked next to this fine V8 5 door sports utility coupe racecar.

I like the alloys and amount of tyre, I think it belongs to a chap who drives quite spiritedly as I’m sure I’ve seen him having a bit of fun before.

Nice colour choice.

Dave!

I think that is painted Ceramic rather than Aero Grey - it's a nice colour. Cheers for taking a photo of one on different wheels Dave :D

It really did suit the wheels and I bet it works well on it.

Make it so.

Hasn't stopped raining since you bought the MX5.

You need to take it back.

Yep, I agree. It's a really nice car Jobbo, but please return it ASAP.

That is how I started this thread. It is my fault.
St Swithin’s Day next week so fingers crossed for that day staying dry.
