I know a guy who loved his motorbikes R1s and Ducatis, who is now an ex-biker for that very reason.

2 separate incidents over the weekend where the car in front (on an A-Road) got bored sitting behind a cyclist after 5 seconds and just pulled out - despite being on blind bends.
First one was uneventful. Second one still had both offside wheels over the centreline (whilst returning to their lane) when they very nearly collected a van head-on coming the other way.
Gives me the heebies about cycling on the road - so many drivers are shit.

I've found that as a solo cyclist, most drivers give you "enough" room that you're if you're used to cycling regularly, it's no concern. It's not as much as you'd like, but it is what it is. What's a bit disconcerting and very common is when you get overtaken and you can see how late they've left it to pull out and rather than passing you at a parallel, they're still going out at an angle to start the move as they pass.
I still find it strange that if there's literally nothing coming on a long straight, how many drivers still pass relatively closely when they could just move over in to the other lane as if overtaking a car. Especially on a fast stretch of road.

I'lln ever understand those people that also don't feel they've yet got enough room to overtae because of oncoming traffic, but are moving along with the front half of their vehicle fully alongside the cyclist. Yeah you’re right. I initially thought it was 2 lanes in the direction they’re travelling and one in the opposite direction

My personal rule is that if someone passes close enough for me to knock on their window without changing my course then I will. edit: would appear to be the B7076 that pre-dates the A74M (and runs alongside it for much of its length).

Both dickheads was my assessment when watching it. I'm all for calling out dangerous driving, but ffs this cannot go without some significant self-relfection from cyclists on what they're doing and whether they are riding safely.

I really can't blame the cyclist in any way there - we didn't see why she was a way from the kerb but she was perfectly entitled to ride in the middle of the lane if she wanted. Good job she didn't; a very close shave.
