Interested to see what you think about it once you've done a few miles.

Oh, and it's gotta be Techno-Violet, surely?!?
Close enough - it’s Daytona Violet. E34 M5 vibes.
Good choice!

Dammit! I was going to say purple.. great choice with silverstone interior. Glad to see brightly coloured cars becoming more popular again

Jobbo is correct...with his colour combo choices

Blimey Jobbo you're on a roll of late with fancy cars. Those manosphere courses must be flying out the door!
Top work indeed.

I'll have to ask Louis Theroux to do a rap in it

Purple is my son's favourite colour so he'd be very impressed with this
ETA 717 horsepower is completely bonkers

BMW's own specs say 535kW and 727hp. But 535kW converts to 717bhp. Hmm, maybe I've been missold
I've realised that there seems to be a 5 pattern with cars in our household: MX5, R5, now M5... probably ought to swap the Cayenne for an X5

How's the insurance going to work out on it? Wasn't it @Matty that had questions about high power vehicles (for the Alfa?) when trying to get insurance?

Did you get any pictures of it btw? Not seen one in Daytona yet.

I don't have it and haven't seen it yet - it's in dealer stock at a different Sytner branch so they're bringing it to my local Sytner this week for collection before the end of the month. So I haven't seen the colour in the flesh. I know I'll love it though. Apparently there was one on show at Goodwood FOS last year in the same colour.
Insurance is what it is, Alex. I'm sorting out the switch from the S6 to it shortly but don't have the exact date yet until it arrives at my local Sytner so can't finalise it.

Yes, there was an M3 touring with gold wheels in that colour at FOS at some point, I just can’t remember seeing an M5 in that colour yet. Joe Achilles had a nice Individual green one in his latest video, really does improve the overall look and balance of the car that some of the standard launch colours.

I did?
I think I got stressed after one company changed their quote (for reasons I forgot) and I then struggled to find anyone charging less than £1k....that was more due to the increasing theft risk due to a known vulnerability, I believe.
Be interesting to know what the M5 is like to insure in isolation - obvs for Simon it'll be insured as part of his full fleet so not a true representation.

The M3 was in 2022 - gold brakes but black wheels.
Looked at my photos. Last year the M5 touring was green, the M2 CS was just violet and not Daytona violet. That’s the only violet BMW that I could see. There was a Spectre in what I’m sure was Daytona violet but they had renamed it something else to justify the £18,000 price tag.

Very good. I go away for a 3 day break and Jobbo buys a big new car!
May it bring you much joy. Looking forward to the pictures, and indeed the next meet.

Seems it was the 2022 Festival of Speed where an M3 Touring was displayed in Daytona Violet:

I’ve had a thing for BMWs in Daytona Techno Violet since the E36 M3 Evo and then someone locally had a E39 Touring, a 540 sport edition which looked the absolute business.

In my playing with the configurator I kept heading to Mora or Aegean, both E39 special edition colours, and then I added in Sepia (seen on E39s) and Orinoco (run out E34 M5 LE colour). But I'm entirely happy with Daytona. Give me too much choice and I'll go round and round, unable to decide
