That's done a few more miles...

Love the 'no cost spared' on the rear axle only, which hasn't even been fitted back onto the car - on which all cost has thus far been spared

To be honest, whilst I love the LC I can’t inagine there is much it does that a 15-year younger VXR8 wouldn’t do better - for a fraction of the price. You could probably even drive it 😎
They must go to the same type of buyer that pays crazy money for old Fords. I've never been in one, but can't imagine that the straight six is a more interesting engine than an LS, so all of the money is going on the impact that it made at launch, and you get to stare at an old Carlton dashboard if you do use it...
Crazy people out there with bags of money hence the £276,000 paid this week for a Mk2 Escort!

One of the last of the VXR8's - the GTS. I don't love the colour, but it is a manuel.

They hold their value exceptionally well - even better than the earlier cars. Yeah this one is modified to 870bhp, but std tune cars go for the same kinda money. You'll pick up a similarly aged / mileage M5 for less than half of that (despite pretty much every test at the time saying that it was the better car).

They ruined the styling for the later model though - the earlier cars look much more coherant and the interior is much cleaner. I'd save a chunk of money and try and find an earlier Bathurst.

I’m not fussed by the Bathurst, but I do wish they’d brought some W427’s to the UK.

(For those unaware - 7litre LS7 in place of the tiny 6.2 LS3 in the std VXR8 / HSV Clubsport)

It’s a whole lot of money, but when you see what people pay for a Lotus Carlton…… 🧐

If only there were another car with an LS7, not saddled with unnecessary doors, seats and all the other excess weight :D

Fair point - ain’t nobody gonna be wantin them super saloons when there is a less practical option available. I guess that’s why M5 sales have always looked so shit compared to M6’s.

Having seen it in full flow - it is indeed like someone has pressed a "fast forward" button on reality. :?

And @scotta alerted me today to the fact that - due to "a new project" - it's now for sale.

I honestly thought this image had been squished horizontally until I saw the number plate, and the rest of the listing. What an odd looking van.Image
