Love the design of that generation SL, it's aging really well imo.

Put some speedlines on it and I'd be dehydrated.

My Dad's threatening to buy this, at auction next weekend. Apparently it's already been through once before and didn't sell.

That’s the 2.7 V6 diesel isn’t it? I know they’re economical but have no idea about reliability.Sundayjumper wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 2:11 pm My Dad's threatening to buy this, at auction next weekend. Apparently it's already been through once before and didn't sell.

Maybe 96000 miles and 3 owners are both low for a 2009 XJ but I think I’d rather take a punt on the newer shape one.

If it hadn't been Stewart Robertson, the car would be worthless.

That looks like a purchase “not without some risk”
To be honest, whilst I love the LC I can’t inagine there is much it does that a 15-year younger VXR8 wouldn’t do better - for a fraction of the price. You could probably even drive it

Re: The ebay thread
They must go to the same type of buyer that pays crazy money for old Fords. I've never been in one, but can't imagine that the straight six is a more interesting engine than an LS, so all of the money is going on the impact that it made at launch, and you get to stare at an old Carlton dashboard if you do use it...mik wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 1:38 pm That looks like a purchase “not without some risk”
