This feels distinctly like an internet argument not worth taking any further, happy to leave it there?

It isn't worth it though, is it?

Flouting the rules makes it more acceptable for others to do so, because if they can, why can't we? It diminishes and undermines the efforts of so many people, if nothing else.

For context I've not seen my sister or nephews since October (they live 30 miles away), I've not seen my dad, other sister, or niece since January last year because we can't travel. My children haven't seen their maternal grandparents since November, etc. The list is long.

I'd like to think that by being responsible we can get this under control and begin to open up again. I'd like to see my family this year.

For me Mik is the real public enemy here. Lock him up and pass me the keys to his garage and cars, then we can all move on.

Whilst I agree with Jon, this thread seems to be getting a bit Daily Mail.....

Pete went to collect his new car (something specifically allowed under Scottish guidance) with an employee he works closely with on a regular basis.

He then got the car home and allowed 2 separate kids to have a seat in it whilst their mum took a pic. I am not sure that is breaking any rules but maybe that was bad?

He then had an unexpected staffing issue and had to step in and travel down South with an overnight stay. For work. Problem with dog well-being - animal welfare being another specifically mentioned clause in the Scottish gov guidance. His dog has been with ours before and they all get on well - I was glad to help.

I was also very glad to babysit his Macca. Who wouldn’t be? Pete and I didn’t kiss or cuddle when he arrived (although I could tell he wanted to of course) and I drove his car solo (actually that is bullshit - of course my boys wanted to ride shotgun with me - but Pete wasn’t in the car.

:?

Meanwhile there are 2 blokes painting a Mini who are the coolest blokes in the world. It’s not their day job. They don’t need to do it now. They are visible in uchoob footage working closely together and with a 3rd party painter. During the lockdown. I have to assume all their Patreons are feckin furious and seeking recompense? Or not.

Don't forget the "4 perfect strangers" on Friday too if you're telling the story Mik.

Unless one of these is the lad he said sat in it on Saturday at his mates house. I'm losing track of all the people who've sat in the car over the last few days now. Is it 9 or 10 or more?

Are you adding up the numbers and the (estimated) ages?

From what you’ve quoted I read 4.

And I guess I make..... <tap tap tap> .... 5.

Is there guidance about people sitting in your car when you aren’t in it? Maybe there is.

Do we need to know how much Pete’s house costs now?

Back to more important matters. Did you take video of this car going through the gears flat out or an emergency start? RichB can host the vid for you Revs 8-)

Car n dug collected last night.

I didn’t take any vid but a cold start with the exhaust positioning set off the smoke detector in my garage. :?

And another observation on not-my-car : I’ve only experienced 3 cars with oil temperature gauges. In each case it was very interesting to see how the oil temp lags way behind the coolant temperature. You need to be at normal coolant temp for several minutes / miles before your oil temp climbs enough that it is able to protect your engine from full-throttle / full-revs.

The 600LT is the only dry-sumped car I have ever driven, so this may be perfectly normal, but the oil temp rises at the same rate as the coolant temp. Even a little faster. Which is rather efficient and handy that you can start giving it some proper beans within only a few miles.

You don’t want to know how long gearbox oil takes to get to temp
How about not having a sig at all?

That's interesting mik, I don't know how that dry sump works, I never treated the Seven as if it was heating up quicker but I never had a gauge (also because K-series). I guess it's going through a pressurisation system, so part of that process could warm it.

It's an awesome run down that road. Hopefully sometime in the not too distant future I shall be battering along it again!!
