No seriously each to their own, but for me the point of these sort of activities is for them to be a challenge. It's not for me if it's something a child could knock up, but if that's what blows your skirt up, go nuts.

I still think r/c cars / trucks are pretty awesome, just to balance out the above. But then you can do something with those after they're built!!

I wasn't bought much Lego as a child as it always been a premium product price wise, so I think was making up for lost childhood, that being said I only started buying it when I got the staff discount You can like childish things and not be a child you know. A lot of (boring) people think skidding cars is childish too..

Well he's due on the 2nd so given it was all the information I had, I've booked a week either side of that date. Best I could think of really. No assisted delivery.

I think the original question and the response sounded a bit condescending, not surprising that it would make people a bit defensive.

You can't take Lego seriously, its a childs toy I was replying to Dan anyway, as if there were rules to growing up?! Anyhoo, most of mine is still in the box, gaining in value quicker than my savings account.

I thought I would find Lego enjoyable but never bought any as an adult as I wouldn’t know what to do with it when built. We bought my 10 year old cousin the Technic truck and I helped him assemble it but found quite boring. A puzzle requires more thinking as you’re not just following instructions.

So instead of buying a Lego 911 I think I’ll buy a proper Stirling engine kit to assemble and it will look nice on my desk and I can appreciate and actual mechanic engine chugging away much more than 6 plastic cylinders.

I did, but about 24 years ago I bought some again.

For me there's a nostalgia about it because I loved it as a kid and it led me to read engineering. And the fact that I could sell it for what I paid (or more, often) makes it a fairly sensible thing to buy frivolously.

Lego is an easy one, it lets me zone out.

As does walking the dog.

At work I’m generally running large complex technical jobs, have stress, people wanting my time and loads of things to think about.

Lego gives me snippets of time when I can focus on an easy mechanical job. It fits in perfectly around children as I simply can’t disappear for hours on my bike when I have so many other needs of my time.

It’s easy, fun, let’s you focus.
