I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but are you at all concerned about flooding? It would be my concern.

If water was to start filling the pit, would there be an automatic way for that water to be moved out?

Is the thinking behind an underground garage that the Mrs can't reverse into it?
Mind you, a normal garage does have guttering to remove water and let it soak away, I'd be concerned an underground one becomes a soakaway itself.

I like the way in that video he has a huge driveway that he has to park in exactly the right place in the centre for it to work!
